My thoughts and prayers are with his family right now.
I have to admit----I had a crush on him, thought he was extremely handsome.
He will be truly missed!

bfez - aw, that is actually sweet. Thought he was quite handsome too.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well. What a sad day. The world only knew of his cancer for 4 months too.

He's always the best newscaster in Primetime news.

R.I.P. Peter Jennings.

My thoughts and prayers to him and his family.

A television obit earlier today said Jennings became a U.S. citizen a few years ago.

ABC News with Peter Jennings was/is our evening news of choice. Indeed, Jennings was a class act. He was always at the top of my list in the Fantasy Dinner Party game. (And, yes, I, too, found him extremely handsome.) My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and co-workers. The world has lost an excellent journalist.

From CNN's Jeff Greenfield:

"In what he knew, in what he wanted the viewers to know, Peter was the embodiment of what journalism should be. He kenw the world better than anyone of his time; and when it became horrifyingly clear four years ago why that mattered, his knowledge, and his determination to let us know, became more important than ever. People will mourn his death as that of a colleague, or a friend, or a familiar, comforting presence in their homes. For me, the loss is compounded because we are losing exactly the best of our craft at the worst possible time."

I remember thinking back when his cancer was first diagnosed that I'd be a mess if he didn't survive and I dreaded the news from day 1.

I watched Good Morning America this morning and it was such a powerful tribute to Peter. Robin Roberts was really choked up. I felt bad for her. How they stayed strong, I have no idea. I was crying throughout the 2 hour broadcast. I don't think I've ever been this choked up about a public figure.

I've always loved the news and for a while I didn't have many friends and Peter, Tom, and Dan felt like friends. Peter's knowledge, insight and profound respect for what he was doing radiated through the screen. He was riveting to watch. I so loved his specials. I remember watching Chelsea Clinton during one of his "children's specials" when I was about 10 or 11. I remember watching his documentaries. Oh how great they were! From the search for Jesus to his last special about if aliens exist or not to addressing the JFK conspiracy theories.

But most, I remember him on election nights. Him and George Stephanopolous, et. all were a great team. Cokie Roberts mentioned this morning that 2004 was the first presidential election Peter could ever vote in and how sad it was that it was his last. She recalled how excited he was to do so.

Peter, RIP. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and two children.

For someone who actually worked in the media, I will sadly miss Peter Jennings... he was truly an icon to embrace. Even though I worked at a competitor station, I still felt he was the person to turn to for your dose of evening news.

May Peter rest in peace.

"Class act" seems to be the phrase everyone is using to describe him, and I think it fits nicely. He wasn't just a calm, comforting figurehead (though he was that, too) - by all accounts he really knew something about being a journalist. He made sure he was a "jack of all trades", keeping himself educated about everything he could so he would have a well of wisdom to draw on when relaying stories....anyone reporting news in any medium would do well to learn from his example.

Jeff Greenfield said it wonderfully. At a time when the world is so damn confusing....when "the media" is ridiculously fractured....we really need more talented, unifying anchormen. Its sad that we have to lose one of the greatest now....

Mr. Jennings will be sorely missed. :(

Don't know if anyone saw the end of ABC's World News Tonight but it was truly heartwrenching. Charlie Gibson is standing in front of the desk and chair that Mr. Jennings used....saying it was only fitting that they show what they called Peter's Chair empty.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Peter Jennings. He was IMO the best of the best; the best broadcast network anchor I've ever had the privilege to witness. Peter personified the words professional, dignity, and class.

My most humble and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans worldwide.

I did. The whole show was... especially the "This is World News Tonight with Peter Jennings"

...and no Peter.
