I think the Tampa Bay area is doing pretty well actually. I moved to St. Pete. from Houston - where there was very little information readily available to the public - Hurricanes were hardly ever discussed.
The St. Pete. Times has published 2 excellent Hurricane guides in the paper - with giant evac. maps, preparation guides, and shelter locations, etc.
There are also frequent Hurricane informational programs aired on the Pinellas County cable channel. Not too bad at all IMO.
