This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the membership on this board grew by leaps and bounds last year, and all of the new members (including myself) just happened to join during one of the most (if not the most) exciting seasons ever.

Just wait, around late July to mid-August, when nothing has formed in two or three weeks...the "Season is Dead" posts will begin to appear. Then again, after the last couple fo years, a nice long lull about mid-season wouldn't be all that bad, would it? 8-)

I think that is true...and I think there is a lot of anticipation...and it gets in the way of the truth of the matter: It's still early. People are also expecting every little low to be tropical (even in April...which has only happened ONCE)..and the truth is sometimes a cold front is just a cold front....and even more so when there are 40-50 knots of westerly winds sitting on the top of it!

NCHurricane - that is exactly the point I am trying to make with nothing forming until August - thanks for saying it better :)

Looks like something is trying to get started just north of the Yucatan moving ENE towards the Florida Straits.

If you will overlay the NWS fronts on that loop...you will see what is causing all of the convection.

It is a cold front...with an unstable wave on it....a frontal low.

Nothing...and I mean NOTHING...is trying to get started ANYWHERE in the Gulf.

Every pro-met on the board has said this. Do you guys not trust us anymore...or do you all want something so bad that you all just aren't listening?

I think they are not listening. :D

As far as I'm concerned if 2006 hurricane season turns out to be a dud I will be the happiest man on earth. I don't think anyone wants to see the death and destruction we saw last season affect anyone in the U.S. or any populated area in the GOM, Carribean and Atlantic region. Last season I was like many of you on this board "excited" about tracking tropical systems but now it's nothing but stress and worry. After what I saw last season and the year before I don't feel the same way.

The trough in the western carib. this afternoon is flaring up. If the system becomes stationary or starts crawling west it might spawn something. What do you all think?

You said that someone got into your computer to make that statement. Now you're admitting it.
