Anyway, I'm better prepared this time - I got myself a 5KW generator. :) I bought gas today as well.
Watertanks are topped off - I got like 1,800 gallons. I should be fine for a while with that.
It looks like Chris won't hit us directly, right? We should be fine. :)

Very busy here in the Turks and Caicos Islands.......went out and did all necessary top-offs to our hurricane supplies.

Recently returned from a meeting with regards to opening our shelters here if need be.....will work tomorrow distributing sandbags to those who may need them.

Please keep our island in your thoughts and prayers.

Good morning, neighbors!
A very quiet night here, but squalls are now moving over out-island Anegada and approaching us.

Glad to hear your preps well underway, Gretchen. Chris is down to 1003mb and looks like it will be a hurricane by the time it reaches you. Stay safe!

Gretchen - do you know of any Ham Radio operators / groups down there? We'd love to connect with some people who can relay reports to the Hurricane Net / NHC.

Good Morning all and BVIgal,

What happened? Nothing much here....rain and not even hard rain. Chris seems to be right next to us and nothing doing.
Confused and frozen from having the airco on all night..........
Cheers

Those in the BVI, please keep posting the conditions as you can. My three children are staying the week in Nailbay with their Father. Needless to say, I'm watching what's happening.
I've got the web cam up in Leverick Bay, it doesn't look bad. This is real close to Nailbay?
What's the wind like?

hibiscushouse, we have no wind right now. We will have some bands of thunderstorms move through here today, already visible on radar. But damaging winds? Here's what would have to happen, Chris would have to intensify into a strong Cat 1 storm in the next 12 hours for us to have sustained winds over 50kts.

Nail Bay is in Virgin Gorda (VG), not far from Leverick Bay. When looking at radar, always use the long-range, the only view with BVI and other non-US islands. If you use the loop, you can then zoom in. The island out to the east is Anguilla, with St. Martin just below it, but not outlined. Below that, St. Kitts, and to the east of St. Kitts, Barbuda and Antigua.

We are having light showers, light winds (under 10kt) from N, no strong gusts, low clouds. It's "white" outside here at 1000ft., but breaking up and I can now see St. Thomas to the west.

Here's St. Thomas airport report from 10am
Wind from the N (350 degrees) at 7 MPH (6 KT)
Visibility 10 mile(s)
Sky conditions mostly clear
Precipitation last hour A trace
Temperature 84.0 F (28.9 C)
Dew Point 72.0 F (22.2 C)
Relative Humidity 67%
Pressure (altimeter) 30.04 in. Hg (1017 hPa)

NOTE: Although it IS mostly clear there right now, ignore the sky conditions whenever you read this airport - they never recognize haze, and consistantly report visibility 10miles, regardless of conditions.

Still having light rain. Winds have picked up slightly, maybe 10 kt, a bit east of N. Nothing to write home about.

Wouldn't it have been wise to change the oil yesterday? Oh, no wait, that would make sense, LOL! Just gotta love the Federal Aviation Administration!!!!!!!!!!

Hi BVIgal,
Nothing much happening here. Sky is white/grey, light rain is falling and light wind. Pretty quiet. He missed us by just a tad but that was enough.........
Good luck all,
cheers
