We have an old-fashioned, 20-year-old push button landline phone for weather emergencies. If the power goes out, the cordless phones won't work; and if the power goes out it's usually due to very bad weather, in which case the cells are kaput too. Just curious - do rotary dial phones still work any more? (Yup, dumb blonde question!) This thread just got me to thinking the last one I remember seeing was the one in my parent's house beforewe moved to Houston in 1980. Was it really that long ago? Yikes!

YES....rotory phones still work My dad had many rotory phones around the house before he passed away in Feb and my step mom has left them....pretty kewl but a PAIN in the rear to try and speed dial

I suspect bluetooth is a whole new medium for the drug dealing sector. You can just spot them so easily as they pull up next to you in there Mercedes, Ludicrous thumping out every crack in the car, that damn ear ornament, bobbing up and down as they make their deal.

Now, we just got something REALLY kewl for those of us in law enforcement ONLY...it's a Bluetooth mounted to your sunglasses , makes it EASY for calling dispatch, EMS, your partner when confidentional information is being passed to you!

I'm curious...what would Bluetooth have to do with drug dealers?

I'm asking because I just bought a new cell phone a few weeks ago and it has Bluetooth. I didn't really understand what it was, but the guy at Centennial explained it some and said I could wirelessly transfer pics from my phone to my computer, download ringtones, etc. from Bluetooth, exchange ringtones, pics, or other info between another cell user with Bluetooth, and some other things I don't recall. At least that's what I *think* he said. I haven't tried any of this yet though.

From real users and not a Centennial guy selling a phone, what are the benefits of Bluetooth for the regular cell phone user?

Here its illigal to talk on the phone while driving! and thats even stopped at lights ect, if you wanna talk you gotta have handsfree

Bluetooth comes in handy for that!

You got it Dennis. Every drug dealer out there will have himself the latest technology when it come to communication. Oh, and then there's the jewelery, can't forget that.

Now I don't want to sound racist here, but I live in SC, which has one of the poorest black population per capita, yet at every corner I seem to be able to spot dreadlocks, gold chanis, and bluetooths. Am I just lucky enough to always be spotting that small percentage of the black population (in SC) that has emassed great wealth against truly insurmountable odds (as you will often hear the NAACP proclaim)? It baffles me.
