Classic training line has set up here over the southern portion of Brazoria county. We have received almost 5 inches over the last few hours. How they have not issued a FFW is beyond me....

looks like the piece moving toward Houston may be weakening a tad right now. However, the line of storms along the coast still looks very strong. As strato said...it is a classic training line dumping very heavy rains.

WINNIE
1044 PM CDT SUN OCT 15 2006

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HOUSTON/GALVESTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS...INCLUDING THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES...BRAZORIA...CHAMBERS...GALVESTON...HARRIS...AND
LIBERTY.

* THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON

* SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...SOME PRODUCING
HEAVY RAINFALL...CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE COASTAL SECTIONS
OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS LATE THIS EVENING AND MOVE NORTHEAST. A WARM
FRONT OFFSHORE THE UPPER TEXAS COAST WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE
NORTHWARD AND MOVE INTO SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS
TONIGHT. THIS BOUNDARY WILL PROVIDE A FOCUS FOR ADDITIONAL
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP AS AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF
LOW PRESSURE OVER THE SOUTHWEST UNITED STATES AND NORTHERN
MEXICO APPROACHES WEST TEXAS TONIGHT. THIS WILL ENHANCE THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS
TONIGHT INTO MONDAY AS THE WARM FRONT CONTINUES MOVING NORTHWARD
ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS. IN ADDITION...ABUNDANT MOISTURE OVER
SOUTH TEXAS AND THE WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO CONTINUES TO MOVE
NORTHWARD PROVIDING THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL. RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST TEXAS TONIGHT INTO MONDAY...WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF 5
TO 7 INCHES POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY WHERE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS MOVE REPEATEDLY OVER OR TRAIN ACROSS.

* NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPER RADAR ESTIMATES 1 TO 3 INCHES OF
RAINFALL HAS ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS SOUTHEAST PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST TEXAS TODAY. THEREFORE...THE FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN
ISSUED FOR THIS AREA BUT OTHER PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS MAY
REQUIRE A FLOOD WATCH LATER TONIGHT AS WELL IF THE TREND OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE COASTAL SECTIONS
SPREADS FURTHER INLAND.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT
STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD
WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

About time...

Was on the verge of issuing my own TStorm warning along with a Flash Flood warning.

Concerns are that the convection in the Gulf is ever so building back towards our area.

this is a scary situation. I am not a big fan of nightime tornado watches after going through the Feb. '98 outbreak in central FL (which hit in the middle of the night killing almost 50 people). Thank god I have NOTIFY to wake me up if a warning is issued.
