It was 88 here today. I went to go look what the record was and the TBW Record pages are royally messed up, so that didnt happen.

weather across Florida for the next week will be governed by low and mid-level (H5) High pressure extending from the Eastern GOM all the way through the mid-Atlantic states, with high pressure anchored in the Western Atlantic.

For all intensive purposes, its a Bermuda High that is developing and its not going anywhere for quite a while. The Canadian model or CMC tries to weaken it out around 144 hours as it stays anchored in place but the GFS does keep it strong even past 7 days. A pressure gradient will also develop in response to a cut-off system in the Rockies.

What this means will be breezy E winds across South FL gusting as high as 28mph by the weekend. Since these winds will pick up some low-level moisture from the Gulf Stream current, a slight chance of POPS is not out of the question but with a mid-level cap from an H5 ridge, thunderstorm development and widespread rain is not likely. Central FL will see E winds between 5-15mph, not as windy but still a nice breeze. Look for a possible seabreeze to develop along the Sarasota-Bradenton corridor and along the beaches of Pinellas and Pasco Counties.

Water temps the only thing holding off sea breeze storms for now. 87-90 for the next two days in the Bay area with incoming humidity levels. Only a few degrees and a few sprinkles off the summer time norm at this point.

the record for St Pete was 89F set in 1999.
It ws 1 degree shy of the record.

It also hit 87F at Tampa (record 91 in 1964), 86F Sarasota (record 91 in 1965)

the other city in florida that came close to the record on Thursday..
Tallahassee at 90F (record 91F set in 1999)

No smoke here from that fire. Cool breezes off the Gulf from cool SST. Blue skies and sunshine, as usual, almost everyday in dry season. Grass so dry it is straw white in the backyard.

2pm - visibility 6.0 miles with smoke
1pm - visibility 4.0 miles with smoke
12pm - visibility 3.0 miles with some
11am - visibility 10.0 miles

Smoke plume visible coming off of Collier County coast...also note how far inland sea breeze has pushed in from the east coast...keeping the east coast (and interior east) void of clouds.

HUGE refreshing sea breeze!
Left Tampa (University of South Florida) where I had an Exam
earlier at 530 PM: It was 93*F on the Car thermometer, and it
felt like the 90s too.
That same thermometer read 80*F here at my house
along a Tampa Bay connected canal (when I arrived at 630 PM)!!! And it feels MUCH
cooler and refreshing with the Seabreeze!!!

Thank goodness for the seabreeze!!!!

The strong winds from the east kept the high down to 84°F.

Easy to see which areas were influenced by the strong onshore flow (east coast cities and Keys)....the high temps were lower and the low temps were warmer:

Hmm, maybe some hopes for some summerlike afternoon thunderstorms to start developing by the end of the week, this mid level ridge could push far enough east, pushed by an upcoming shortwave trough, to let some moisture move into our area, and for afternoon thunderstorms to start developing by daytime heating, next weekend we could see the highest chances. This strong easterly breeze should die down some as well.
