Excuse me...as opposed to what?

It was absoultely nothing this morning and now it is something with confirmed west winds? I will not comment further...

The main pulse of energy that was mentioned in the earlier TWO was north of Puerto Rico. This area has become less organized.

I just got back in, I see that the winds have gone NW at 58 and SSE at 57...this will be a moment of truth sort of...if it is indeed developing then I would not expect this...58 is adrift and is near 80W...therefore the winds are 180 or thereabouts on a near N/S angle...looks like outflow boudaries are coming...

I don't know why the NHC was paying attention to that area that pushed to the north of PR to begin with, the surface pressure in that area is much higher than the area in the central Caribbean.

One thing I've noticed this year is far too many people continue to hang on every TWO that is put out.

It is only a snippet, and folks should not read that much into it..

Almost to the point that it should not even be put out, IMO.

Read the TWD, as it generally points out what is, and what isn't happening...;)

Is it just me or has this wave grown larger?

I am not going to agree with the fact that the TWO shouldn't be put out, but as stated, if you want to know what is going on with the entire Atlantic basin, read the TWD. It is quite comprehensive and detailed in most respects.

It's a just a tropical wave interacting with the TUTT. No tropical development will be taking place here in the next few days.

So what do you make out of the reporting light westerly & northwesterly wind in this area along with falling pressures since 24 hrs ago, and with windshear only around 5 knots.

No, they said that it is forecasted to become increasingly unfavorable for development, but I think they were talking about the area north of Puerto Rico & Hispaniola, which I agree, the upper level conditions will become very hostile for the next couple of days. But if a system is trying to develop south of Jamaica & Grand Cayman general area, the upper level conditions will not get affected as much by the upper level low near the Bahamas.

The TUTT bisects Cuba and is near the Yucatan..Unless this shear relents real soon, anything going south (or north) of Cuba is doomed.Just my opinion..

Just a strong wave axis moving though. I see no signs of any of real organization or circulation on satellite imagery. The convection while deep is linear and being enhanced by divergence aloft.

That's a bit of a mystery. It apparently broke loose and is somewhere near 15N 80W.
