The temps seem to moderate pretty quickly Friday into Saturday for the Houston area. That may be a good thing. You might possibly dodge all the tree damage and power outages we had here in North Texas during our Dec ice storm. Looking more and more like a freezing rain event for Houston and a sleet and snow event the further north you go.

The 12z Euro is also coming in wetter. It's now showing about 2 inches of snow in College Station. I think some of that is falling as sleet though.

The HRRR is also showing a large area of frozen precipitation across central Texas around midnight tonight. The latest model trends are certainly encouraging for us winter weather lovers!

My point forecast from the nws changed my possible accumulation tonight from less than 1/2 inch to less than 1 inch. If that is snow or even sleet its ok if it is freezing rain not so good.

The clouds here are definitely getting heavier, have that look of wintry weather to them.

The arctic cold front is now moving through south Texas, with temperatures already falling into the 30s across central Texas. Light rain will develop this afternoon and as temperatures drop to freezing tonight, freezing rain, sleet, and snow are likely. Some areas could see up to an inch or ice/snow. Please try to stay off the roads tonight as travel will become dangerous.

Ok weather bug has temps at 42, accuweather has temps at 46, so 6 degrees differance, but still shows front has gone thru and temps behind it are dropping pretty fast as temps about 2 hours ago here were in the mid 50's.

NWS must be getting more and more confident with the amount of moisture coming in. Forecast for Sugar Land is now 70% ZR, sleet, snow tonight and tomorrow and 40% Friday night!

Here is a good interactive link to temperatures across the state. You can keep progress of the cold air moving in. Notice the Freezing line is passing DFW area now and temps in the NW Houston are staring to fall into the 40's. Portions of Greater Austin is approaching the mid 30s'... the Cold air is coming!

If Sugerland and Houston is showing 70 percent chance of precip thru tomorrow and 40 percent tomorrow night, then would that not be the case too here in my area? :cold:

No problem. It doesn't give you every city but you do get every airport & each TAS even tells you when the last report was published, so you always know how recent the data is. Plus it color codes the freezing temps automatically in blue.
