To be fair though - There is an argument that N TX has overachieved so far regardless of qpf totals because there has been a lot more sleet/snow compared to rain.

Never mind te temp trends.

Radar for DFW has been a lot less impressive than I have expected thus far (which is a good thing).

It seems like the cold front is really struggling through DFW. It took about 5 hours to go from 34 to 27 here in highland village.

Looks like the dew point is holding steady at 31 in Addison. Once that starts dropping so will the temp.

Just took the pup for a walk, it’s really not bad outside at all. Thinking about heading out and seeing if anyone is open and serving breakfast

Temps are tanking across the Metroplex just in time for moderate to heavy line of frz rain/sleet moving up from the southwest, this will encase DFW in a dangerous layer of ice this morning before the grand finale later this evening/night. Buckle up, roads are about to get really treacherous for several days!!

Heavy sleet in Plano.

Thank goodness that we look to have mostly avoided freezing rain thus far.

Watching the temp drop steadily now in N Dallas. It hovered right at 32.0 most of the night, and just in the last 10 minutes it’s dropped below 30 with a stronger wind.

I'm down to 20F here in Ponder and ths streets are covered in a wintery mess.

My mom's house in Carrollton shows 23F, now her thermometer is just above the roofline of a 1 story house. She's about 5 min NW of Addison Airport.

I would believe it. This morning before the sleet rolled in we were just getting light snow flurries that I assumed we due to the lake.

That must have been the floating shimmer. Lake effect or enhanced, if it were occuring, would be lower to the ground. Can see it now om radar bands moving from northeast to southwest.

Wow the temps in DFW tanked over the last hour. It wasn’t UHI but just colder air moved in a tad slower than expected. But it has certainly arrived now.

FWD mentions the light snow mixing in this morning.

From radar and reading the forecast discussion it looks like DFW proper has about 1-2 more hours of moderate to heavy precip, a break for several hours with just scattered/light, before round 2 later into tonight. You can see the latter on El Paso radar across that region.

Maybe 3 inches here. I'm being a bit generous. Ironically the best snow of the entire storm right now before the lull

Hopefully this is a good sign for tonight though that it picked up
