I would of thought sure they would of found winds 50-55mph. :grr: Some of those dark red bands to the north you would think would have higher winds than 40kts.

well based on latest radar you can see a center about 50 miles or so SSE of morehead city should go just east of there over the outer banks probably with 50 mph winds and 1003 pressure good nite

The center is on the very eastern side of the convection,. Even half exposed now...We will see how it looks when the next satellite comes in.

Um...have they even taken a full swipe through it? People are complaining about 40 knots, when the wind could be stronger elsewhere, they just havent sampled it yet.

Surprisingly, I don't think that was the full pass. They just found a 41 knot, which I know is virtually the same as a 40 knot, but they might not be done yet.

Um, this is the first pass through the system; the plane has not reached the NW quad yet. The 40 kt reading was in the SW quad.

Hopefully they will be headed to the north soon. That is where the action is at.

North-northwest movement now.

GABRIELLE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 11 MPH...17
KM/HR. A TURN TOWARD THE NORTH IS EXPECTED LATER TODAY. ON THE
FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER OF GABRIELLE SHOULD MOVE OVER OR VERY
NEAR THE COAST OF NORTH CAROLINA LATE THIS MORNING OR EARLY THIS
AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...THE OUTER RAIN BANDS ARE ALREADY SPREADING
ONSHORE AT THIS TIME.

Yeah - and this storm holds no interest for them.

Any thoughts on what's up with our girl here?

Speaks volumes to me that many feel the need of destruction on CONUS to getting excited. These are great learning experiences, yet unless it's the "big one", apathy seems to abound. Troubling indeed.

I'm not suprised it didn't strengthen very much after last night convection blow-up. Especially when it looked like the LLC was still on the southern edge.

Yeah it'll probably have its winds upped to 45mph in response to these higher winds. Actually in terms of its sturcture it hasn't got a bad shape and I stil think that as it gets further north it'll breifly get enhanced by Baroclinic ways, Derek has this system getting upto 55kts probably because of such a thing, the only problem with this is by that time it'll be dealing wit hthe constant chance of turning extra tropical.

Derek I don't think any one here in NC wanted a Hurricane. We just wanted some good rain from it and it looks like it is not going to happen. Just looked at the loop and it is moving NNE now. So NO rain.
It is very bad here. We don't have trouble with snakes But we do now cause they are looking water. we can't let our granddaughter outside till after we get rain. What grass I do have left is brown. Now the other out side NC yes they might wanted a hurricane. We here know what can happen.
Very sad we will have no Rain.

We have some bandes now but no rain
