WELL defined boundary of sorts traveling through the everglades. Vis on MIA radar quite clearly. Showers just started at my loc (marina mile/tp/95(. Expect a quick storm.

Serious lack of rain here nearly 2 weeks now. Strong hot sun all day. Trough like persistent pattern continues to send weather from N to S.

Re: Florida Weather Thread: Rainy season continues
There's abnormally dry air letting the sun through. 93* You can tell because the thunderheads over the mainland are in sharp detail. No rain here in 2 weeks.

The local NBC OCM keeps saying "dust and subsidence" but I don't think he knows what he's talking about - every day he says that it's rained (though the discussion does now indicate it's forecast to move over the CWA tomorrow)...
P.S. Lonny, you need to check that discussion once again - it's now indicating that next week's rainy weather pattern for South Florida might not happen (rats)...

Frank, the dust is approaching South Florida. You can see the haze in this VIS image over the Bahamas.

As for the rainy weather, well that was one run, we need more runs to know for sure.

When it cant get more complex...
The high is dead centered over central Florida...which creates unique conditions. The seabreeze is moving east north of Tampa, and west, south of Tampa.
Then there is a 'front' coming in from the NW this weekend so say some models, but a front in July: I'll believe it when I see it.
Then the tropical slug of moisture in a week or so...

AREAS. THESE TEMPS WILL BE CLOSE TO THE RECORD HIGHS FOR
TODAY...SO WILL CONTINUE TO MENTION NEAR RECORD HIGHS FOR THE

Miami (airport): temp: 91, dewpt: 76, heat index: 103

I'm going through one of the strongest storms I have had this rainy season. I'm estimating I have received about 4-5 inches of rain from this storm. Lightning every a couple of seconds. Wind gust to about 35+ mph.
Strangely, my rain chance today from NWS Miami was only 20%-30% as was the rest of metro Palm Beach County. Looks like nearly all of Palm Beach and Broward County is getting alot of rain today. With a SW windflow, and seabreeze convergence...and a trough out to the NW...I was a bit surprised they had the chances so low despite the African dust. I probably would have gone with about 50% to 60% with the setup in place.

Re: Florida Weather Thread: Rainy season continues
I thought for a minute I was looking at the composite reflectivity loop, but NOPE. Massive seabreeze spawned convective storms reminiscent of the MCS that we had a month ago (at least in scale). The boundary goes from south of Miami up past the limit of the Miami Radar.
From the latest NWS discussion for the area:
Well I'm thinking the SAL thats been in place the last day or two capped the area and the massive ridiculous heating it allowed, and how the overnight did not cool down much at all, combined to explode right through the cap in the past hour. It suddenly developed, but most of the returns coming into broward and miami are slowly dying off. Light big rain and a ton of wind right now at Tamarac.
From the latest NWS discussion for the area:
FOR THE REST OF TODAY...THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED ACROSS THE
INTERIOR AND ALONG LAKE BREEZE CONVERGENCE IN WESTERN PALM BEACH
COUNTY. A FEW STORMS HAVE ALSO GOTTEN GOING ALONG THE EAST COAST
SEA BREEZE IN THE MIAMI AREA...BUT HAVE STRUGGLED TO DEVELOP SO
FAR ALONG THE REMAINDER OF THE SEA BREEZE. THINK STORMS WILL
CONTINUE TO INCREASE AND MOVE NE BACK TOWARDS THE EAST COAST METRO
AREAS LATE THIS AFTERNOON/EARLY THIS EVENING BEFORE ACTIVITY
DISSIPATES OR MOVES OFFSHORE BY MIDNIGHT.

5 minute rain. First in two weeks. Grass was going brown at height of rainy season.
Rain from front from NW. Unusual winter pattern for mid-summer.
