Dry slotting.

Wrap around moisture & clouds will back in.

Yay!!! Thanks for your reply. Wanna kinda enjoy all the white stuff. Eyeballing it this morning it’s looking like 3” maybe more. Went to bed around 11 and it was sleeting really hard. Not sure what snow we got on top of it. Accumulation is up to my first step and small ditch near road is not recognizable. Hope everyone stays warm, keeps power, and we get a few more flakes later today.

Some little flakes floating around here, guessing this is lake effect since we’re downwind from the bigger lakes this time. Also thinking this probably what I was seeing last night.

Must’ve had some sleet mixed in at the very end as it’s all white around the beds of my trees and I can see some buildup on the roof

Saw a pic of 5 inches of sleet in Roanoke. Yikes.

4) Modeled QPF is likely way too high.

I haven't ventured outside yet but it looks like in Longview we ended with less than 0.1" freezing rain and 1.5"-2" sleet. I think we had 0.1" or 0.2" of rain Friday. The NWS Longview reporting station shows 1.05" of rain equivalent.

That's about half what was modeled all week by global models and hi-res models. And I'm only looking at local observations but that sounds like a common theme from Oklahoma through Texas.

Holly Lake Ranch (north of Hawkins). I had 0.4 of rain by Friday night. Another 1.0 in the gauge before it got dark Saturday, and what looks like an inch of heavy sleet after that. The sleet was mixed with rain and froze so hard that I can't leave tracks in it.

About 4.5" of sleet here over night, and it's solid enough you could ice skate on it

Snow in Texas? What’s that?

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a certified meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Well that was fun. After on and off heavy sleet and snow mix all day yesterday, late last night it changed over to heavy snow. It looks like we picked up 2-3” of snow from the stuff overnight. Pretty chilly this morning at 4 degrees. Hopefully there will be another one before winter is said and done.

The way it's pivoting out, I bet the Midland stuff will miss DFW to the north, meaning we get a snow shut-out. Just too much of a northward component. Once again a win for just north along the Red River lol

I’m in Roanoke and I definitely don’t have 5 inches of sleet. Maybe 2.

Onto the next one. PV split appears to be on the table for February.

No freezing rain here in Houston earlier. Rain stopped around 8am. Temperature holding around 34-35. This morning's Houston Chronicle (paper) had a headline saying chances of an ice storm here are worsening. Uh, no. No freezing rain.

I have probably close to that here in my area we got hammered with wave after wave of sleet. I have drifts around my house greater than a foot. It’s pretty wild.

Ntxw or orangeblood, do yall still like the mid February timeframe for maybe another cold stormier pattern here? Just curious.
