Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
Just woke up at 7 am to find some freezing rain on my window and sleet all over the ground. There’s so much of it that it looks like actual snow. Lol

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation
Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?
All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

HRRR indicates precip gradually tapering off and ending across the D-FW area this morning and ending in San Antonio and Austin by early this afternoon. Note that some of those stations reporting snow may be automated. They may not easily differentiate between sleet and snow. However, it does appear as the deeper cold air has passed west of the D-FW area. I don't know if you'll get more than a dusting of snow up there in the D-FW area. Possibly a flurry in Austin before it ends. Can we have summer now?

Here in Paris Texas, radar and weather channel has been reporting snow here since 8 last night, reporting 31. It must have been the automated reports because temps teetered between 32 and 33 over night keeping it all rain with a token sleet pellet. Now 27, with light sleet, but still reporting snow Lol. Maybe an inch of snow before ending today is my guess.

JUST switched to all snow in Weatherford. The radar plays tricks with your mind.. Looks like we will have a couple of hours of snow on the back end of the system, then it is gone.

Fox 4 showing video of good snowfall in Weatherford. The switch can't come soon enough.

Two things you can set your clock by, surface cold coming in faster and the warm nose holding on longer than models show. Last week, really thought we might see a big snow in DFW but the final orientation of the trough did not favor more snow than mix.

Winter time post are almost exclusively focused on the DFW area.

I have a YouTube account. Upload the video, make it public accessible and post the link. I think Brent has used Streamable, but I'm not familiar with it.

That's impressive. Would be even easier to understand if they had posted how many miles that straight line is.
Edit: They did in a different tweet.

Just imagine if this actually were a mainly or all snow event for NTX. The totals would be insane - probably close to what the GFS has been predicting by including all QPF from the freezing rain and sleet.

My Dad just text me from the Springtown area that "it's snowing like pouring pee out of a boot". Thought I was old!

Surface freezing line from Tyler to Palestine to Austin-San Antonio. Moving very slowly eastward. I don't think we have much to be concerned about here in Houston and SE TX. Maybe a little sleet before the precip ends late this afternoon. Upper 20s tonight down here. How are things looking up in the DFW area? Any power outages? I think the precip was lighter than models were forecasting.

Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
regardless of what radar shows across SE Tarrant Co it is sleet, not snow. Freezing rain looks about .25" and 1.5" of sleet. Already had 10" limb come down from neighbors tree and hit my roof punchering area over the eve thank goodness.

Precip wasn’t lighter. In fact it was heavier than forecasted for San Antonio Austin and Dallas. I think dfw just had a ton of sleet which saved the power crisis.
