Shannon,
It's great to have you back and safe in CA, Wxbuddy!
I wish Brett the VERY best at his new job!
Reminds of a restaurant here in north Raleigh called "Spinner's!" (a 50's through 90's music-style eatery!) where the manager at times is up in the DJ booth 'spinning out' the hits and the waiters/waitresses dance!!

Hey all - quick update, today was very first day. The time flew by, 3 hours of hard work. But I managed, I just didn't want to lag behind. Two very busy servings line at this HS. Wow, you're hit with a steady line for 20 minutes, then no one but you can't rest, you have pans to wash. I asked my daughter later if the pace is always like that - she said yeah Mom, you don't want kids waiting too long, then there goes their entire (20 minute) lunch time! Glad I hurried today!
I checked email before 8 and then didn't have time to get on here for hours. I can see that my time will be cut now. Dang! I won't disappear but I know it's going to be busy from here until January. I have a lot to do for Thanksgiving and Christmas too. But sometimes I work better under pressure. Sometimes.
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. The job in itself is not hard to master, it's just a lot of work. No dosing at a desk for me.....I wore my ugly walking gym shoes, they're so wide, hate the way they look. Well, let me say they kept me from falling a lot! And you know how I tend to twist ankles, a bit....he he

Miss Mary!!!!
Thanks Karan and Eric...for the wellwishes for Brett. I enjoy driving by and beeping at him and waving crazily out the window...it embarasses him SOOO much..hee hee. Eric...can you believe he is old enough to work?! :O( Growing up too fast...
Mary! Your job sounds fun and exciting...when I worked, I loved being "in the weeds"...too busy to know whats going on....lol I work much better under pressure and before you know it, your day/shift is done! Good luck with it....I'm glad you're wearing comfortable shoes...even my vain self broke down and bought ugly black comfy Aerosoles when I was catering events in Louisiana...its soooo important to take care of your feet...especially when its been a while since you worked on them!
Hope the kids are respectful to you at school. There is a really cute/hip 22 yr old guy that my son skates with at the skatepark (skateboard)... His name is Jeremy...and while he is going to school to become a teacher, he subs as a janitor in the schools, wherever they need him. The first day he was at my kids middle school, a bunch of the guys thought it would be funny to mess with him, and they threw a sandwhich at the guy! I was floored when he told us this...how disrespectful! (And this is a good looking young guy, who skates like they do!) Some kids are such donkeys....I was wondering how the kids treat the person giving them their food...I'd think you're pretty popular since they all need you! lol
Well, Happy Halloween to everyone...we're going to the festival at our church, and then passing out candy at home...Brian and I are not dressing up this year as we always have before...ssigh, does this mean we're no fun anymore?? Hope everyone and your kids, have a very safe night tonight. Bye , for now...

Welcome to the porch wetwilderbeast. Dennis will be starting up the Pot Belly Stove tomorrow so you just have to join us. We have been sitting on the porch and keeping the stove lit for about 5 years now. This is a warm friendly place to be.
Mary, I'm so excited for you!!! The time will just fly and you will love that paycheck at the end of the month. Furry is right - take good care of those feet. Really good tennies should do it. ((HUGS))
Come on Furry, you just gotta dress up. At least put on a mask.
Ok, I'll put on a pot of Earl Grey and heat up some water for Mary to soak her feet.
Have a great night - HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Karan - aww thanks. I do have good walking shoes - they're ugly as all get out but very comfortable. Almost wore my Eastland shoes but glad I didn't - you get really wet in the dish washing area! LOL I usually live in my Eastland's.....what I call my hack around shoes.
Furry - appreciate your well wishes for my job. I hadn't filled out a W4 in years....decades really...he he.
Well, I guess this is goodbye to the Porch and hello almost to the Stove huh....there is a chill in the air up here, so it's time.
See ya all in front of the Stove!!!

First off... welcome to the Porch... stop by the PBS... its warmer than sitting outside in these crisp fall mornings.
Second off... homesick for NH? I've been out of WI since middle July... and I won't be stateside again until middle January... hopefully back to WI by end of January. That's what you get for being deployed with the Air Force Reserve. I missed out on the beautiful fall colors, the changing of temperatures, Halloween in Madison and most importantly partying during Packer/Badger games... and I will miss Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years... I'll be stateside for Easter, but I will not be home (back in WI) for the holiday.
