NHC has been pretty consistent in their advisories today that Ian is moving at 9-10 mph, but it seems slower than that, which isn't a great thing. Interested in what they come out with for the 5pm advisory.

I know a guy who used to drive like this. He would just keep going. Blizzard, wildfire, flooding - whatever. He wanted me to be his co-driver. I said no thanks. No reason to have to be the only one on the road other than bragging rights I guess.

I had to wade into my house during Harvey, to retrieve some documents I forgot, no sharks, but plenty of fireants floating everywhere...

Looks like both NBC-2 and WINK out of Ft. Myers/Naples are down. NBC 2 went down about an hour ago and WINK just went down a few minutes ago. ABC 7 and WFLA are still up in the Sarasota area (WFLA should stay up since they are out of Tampa).

Is this supposed to be a video? If so, it's not playing for me. Maybe it's my phone and I need to wait until I can get on my laptop. What happens to the truck?

Can't upload or even download portions of the video, I screenshotted it because it was my only chance to catch him on camera.

The Truck has a serious risk of tipping over because of the strong winds blowing from the left to the right.

The first Law of Chasing Hurricanes is your vehicle (your life raft) must be at least 30’ high in a reinforced concrete parking garage.

Without said Law being observed the consequences can be quite severe.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

Sun is back out after a heavy rain band moved through, with close to 60 MPH wind gusts. Wind has calmed back down some. I can see the circular look to the cirrus clouds and the sky is dark to the NW, in the far distance.

Anyone heard of surge updates along Charlotte harbor?...I am thinking with it passing under the eye it may have been spared the 12+ foot surge that Fort Meyers south is getting but havent heard much. Seems so far most of the surge news has been about Naples. Fort meyers gauge is 6 ft and still rising.

Water is far more destructive than wind.
