Making the fist. I think we'll have a major hurricane tomorrow.

Given the way that 5 day cone looks this storm might reach 80 degrees west.

Although it looks like a strong ridge will be building in, I just can't wrap my head around a (possibly) major hurricane barrelling from Barbados to Belize in November. It has to turn.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Agreed boca. I was just relating what I saw on the 5 day map where the 5 day point was about 76 degrees west and near 17 or 18 degrees north which would make it just sse of Jamica. Of course 5 days out the margin for error is quite large and Haiti is in the cone at 5 days.

This storm is a monster and it will gradually turn not sharply. Richard was a small storm and that system would turn on a dime.Tomas is a big boy and its not going to make a sharp right turn it will most likely be gradual due to its size.

I'm just glad it is November and not September with this one.

Well I will be glad if we get through the rest of the season unscathed. I hope that Tomas will spare the South Fla region. Heck I hope Tomas spares a lot of regions, but that will obviously not be the case.

I completely agree. I hate to make even personal forecasts based on a storm having "that look," but if any storm this season has had "that look," it's this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see a major by the 11pm EST advisory tomorrow night. Quote me on that.

Major, Minor, whatever, that image posted at 11:24 above looks appropriately Halloween-like. Sort of an alien skull or something.

Appearance is subjective, but this really looks no more impressive than the current intensity of about 55 knots. SAB was T3.5 at 0545Z.
