Nope. Still in place. The comment you highlighted above was merely the opinion of one of our members who is not a meteorologist.

I apologize for not clarifying....unless the Euro comes in much wetter, I would expect the winter storm watch to be downgraded to a winter weather advisory.

So Hosuton is in the clear now? Thanks. Always good information here.

Thanks Porta. I didn't think it had, but was a little confused when I read the aforementioned post.

When does the new Euro come out? Will anyone have a snow map?

Thanks!

No Houston is not in the clear now by any means. We will likely see freezing rain mixed with sleet tomorrow. There is a chance it could transition over to snow tomorrow afternoon/evening. The models have trended drier over all but the Houston area is not in the clear.

:uarrow: in a word "no"....the winter storm watch is still in effect. Not sure how this got started with a downgrade rumor.

Its time to throw out the model watching and watch real time data. Upstream and over towards to the ULL....the artic blast is passing CLL and should be close to IAH by now.....going to get real cold in a few hours....and windy.

Alright guys, everyone needs to stop getting ready to jump off the ledge. Yes, the precip total forecast from the models is trending down slightly. Just remember last Thursday, all of the models were showing no precip north of College Station, but Killeen and Waco ended up getting about .50 inch to 1 inch of snow. There's no way of knowing exactly what's going to happen until the radar likely begins to light up after midnight tonight. There may still be a few surprises in store for some folks.

Interesting 12z meteogram for north Houston. Warmer and less precip. Note that MOS is forecasting low 20s by Wednesday morning vs. upper 20s for the raw 2 meter temps on the meteogram. With the last event MOS was much closer. I don't have much hope for any significant snow in Houston, as I'm afraid that warm layer aloft will lead to mostly freezing rain then sleet. But we could see a few flakes Tuesday evening. There is quite a bit of uncertainty as to how much moisture will be available tomorrow. Nothing is set in stone yet. I don't think we'll really have a good idea about snow potential in Houston until we get the sounding from the University of Houston around noon to 1pm tomorrow.

We have more ammunition to the gun fight than we did last time this happened ( I am speaking of 2011). This will tell us a ton....

Upper 30's in Houston tomorrow sounds crazy warm, especially with an airmass that's supposed to be colder than last week's (and conditions upstream seem to be verifying that).
It makes me question that particular GFS run. There is no question, however, that the general trend across all model variants is towards drier and warmer (at least in regards to the midlevels and p-type).

After looking at the forecast models this morning, I think there's a chance this winter storm will be a bust. #abc13storm #IceAge2
