i see ruskin has just pulled the trigger on a special marine warning for this area. certainly warranted. hopefully boaters are paying attention and headed for safe harbor.

Nasties right off the coast from me now. Getting real dark out. I was kinda hoping it would fall apart before it got to me. Guess not.

no severe weather here. just tons of rain, lots of lightning and peak winds that were only in the 35-40mph range. interestingly enough those winds were not at the leading edge of the precip as would usually be the case. overall, a very nice storm. i suffer from thunder deprivation during the dry season so this is great.

This wall cloud was not linear like ones in the past. The clouds were curved and changing. I could see visible lifting. It was probably one of the more volatile lines I've been in with winds 40mph+. Winds came about 5 seconds after the clouds past. Seems like a weak Tropical Storm outside still. A lot of rain.

Some gusty winds and heavy rain...gusts of 30-40 mph briefly.

Nothing doing in S. FL yet. Just some impressive gusty SW winds and high humidity.

Lots o rain. Hail not far from us with report of an awning blown onto the median of Ridge Rd near US 19. Round two here now. More thunder and lightning than the first time. Heavy rain. First batch gave us 1.45" - this round should equal or exceed that.

Feels like we went from finally breaking free from the enduring cold of the winter and transitioned right into summer this weekend! With temps in the mid and high 80s and dewpoints in the 70s today, we had heat indices in the 90s for most of the afternoon. Low temps in south florida will continue to run 5-10 deg above normal tonight....only getting down to 75 at the lowest!

We may get a bit in the way of drier air with temps in the mid 80's Tuesday and Wednesday before the flow turns onshore again by Thursday and the humidity returns.

Water temp off Miami Beach at Fowey Rocks...we are only a few weeks away from 80 deg water temps....and once we cross that threshold, there is no dropping below 80 for at least 6 months!

southward progress has stopped. an outflow boundary is visible on radar from northern manatee county east across northern hardee county with all of the convection dispaced to the north. training of heavy showers and thunderstorms continues off the gulf from clearwater north to citrus county. that region appears to be the jackpot. i'm up to 1.4" now and it's still coming down.

SPC has upgraded to tornado watch until 7 am. the storm train continues here with very heavy rain at times.. now over 3 inches. normal for the entire month is about 2 inches. the light show has been terrific. and it looks like alot more is on the way.

Around 2" of rain at my house so far tonight, with more storms refiring to my wsw, nice training effect. Lots of cloud to ground lightning as well.

Its going to be an ugly morning commute down here. Wouldn't be surprised if a Severe T-Storm watch is issued for SFL by the time everyone is waking up tomorrow (or actually today) morning.

there's so much lightning here my street lights just turned off... they've been tricked into thinking it's daylight! the good news is it looks like the heaviest storms are drifiting south a bit. sarasota and bradenton are about to get some hefty storms.
