Gonna happen on our side of town...
I just hope Ercot doesn't have problems again...that would stink to lose power/heat.

Luckly, I'm on the same curcuit as a near by larger Hospital. That certainly helped during Ike.

Yeah, numerous days of sub-freezing temps and not one snowflake over Friendlywood.
Oh well.........the 04 Christmas miracle made up for that.........and the 08 snow, 09, and possibly the Feb 2011 event.

Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
gfs 12z shows a widespread little event across Texas. I think it'll probably be heavier than it's currently showing.

Well, it's getting closer to the event and I don't see how this becomes a 04' event at least not that magnitude. I think the Euro has somewhat of a good idea. Probably a good 1-2 inches in southeast Texas (probably highest just north of I-10). and 3+ locally somewhere. Everyone else from S/central to NE Texas probably gets a dusting to maybe an inch. Just imo. CMC has backed off on it's doomsday qpf but still looks similar to the GFS.
And omg it is cold this morning!!!

Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
txagwxman, do you have a sense yet on which model is capturing the pattern the best? Or is this one of those events where we won't have an accumulation idea until 12 hours before the event? There does seem to be a general trend of increasing moisture amounts albeit a trend I would consider "slight."

I just read the DFW AFD from this morning, and the part below stuck out to me. Are they suggesting that we leave every faucet dripping even if all of our pipes are underground?
THIS COLD SNAP IS VERY SIGNIFICANT AND SOME INFRASTRUCTURE IN NORTH TEXAS ARE NOT
BUILT TO HANDLE TEMPERATURES OF THIS MAGNITUDE. RESIDENTS ARE
URGED TO TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
PROTECT PLANTS...PIPES AND PEOPLE. IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO LEAVE
FAUCETS DRIPPING DURING THIS PROLONGED COLD SNAP. COLD AND HOT
WATER LINES SHOULD BE DRIPPING ON ALL FAUCETS...ESPECIALLY FAUCETS
WHICH ARE BUILT ON EXTERIOR WALLS.

Corpus 10AM Update:
WILL BE LOOKING THROUGH THE LATEST 12Z MODEL DATA BUT LIKELIHOOD
FOR WINTER STORM WATCH IS GOING UP FOR WINTRY MIX AND CONCERN FOR
ICE ACCUMULATIONS FOR THURSDAY NIGHT/FRIDAY. A BIT DISCONCERTING
IN LIGHT OF THE FACT THE MODELS HAVE DONE SO POORLY WITH CURRENT
CLOUD DECK OVER REGION.
