TROPICAL ATLANTIC
http://www.weather.com/newscenter/tropical/
The remnants of Erika have produced flash flooding across parts of Puerto Rico. Rainfall rates as high as 4 inches per hour have occurred just south of the island. Some mountain locations have seen 7.58 inches.
As the Labor Day holiday continues, eastern Hispaniola and the southeast Bahamas could see locally flooding rain as well.
This is why when people write off a storm as dead and want to move on, those of us in the islands get offended.
Erika may be dead but she is still causing big serious problems for people in PR, Vieques, Culebra, and they cannot write her off so easily.
Please be careful my friends.

Absolutely Barbara

I tkink that some of... should live here at least 1 year to deal with and understand why a wake weak or pimpy wave or even residual remnants could bring on the islands!
These amounts are really juicy in PR damn, and it's only REMNANTS

Latest update
Flooding rain Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands
James Wilson, Lead Meteorologist, The Weather Channel
Sep. 5, 2009 8:53 pm ET
TROPICAL ATLANTIC
The remnants of Erika have produced flash flooding across parts of Puerto Rico to the Virgin Islands. Reports of 1 to as much as 7.58 inches of rainfall have streams and rivers running extremely high and water over streets in some locations.
Residents will need to use extreme caution due to the high water the next day or so here.
As the Labor Day holiday continues, eastern Hispaniola and the southeast Bahamas could also see locally flooding rain as well as the system lifts north and west.

I have to let out a big hurrah!! We are finally in a clear zone! Barely but...the wind just died, the temp is back to too warm and the radar agrees...here's hoping for a sunny day tomorrow and no danger to our friends on other islands tonight and in the days ahead. It's been a long few days...

Remains of Erika Floods Puerto Rico
Posted: 5-SEP-2009 5:10pm EDT
Once-Tropical Storm Erika is now a disorganized remnant low churning in the Caribbean, but it continues to cause problems across Puerto Rico. Heavy rain from the system has led to mudslides, as well as flooded roads and homes.
Drenching rain from Erika forced the Gurabo River out of its banks. This river is located on the island's northeastern side. Also in this area, water from several other small streams and tributaries flowed over neighboring roads. A mudslide covered a road, while one home collapsed.
Heavy rain also caused mudslides in the county of Carolina, which is located southeast of San Juan. Near Puerto Rico's northeastern coast, flood waters inundated a home in the city of Fajardo.
Rain continues to pour down across Puerto Rico, but a few places have already measured 6 to 8 inches. Those amounts fell in 24 hours, ending at noon EDT today.
