Based on the damage estimates throughout the South Pacific, I'm all but certain that Gita will be retired. There is a standby list of names used to replace retired names in the basin, so Gita will likely be replaced by Garth.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand MetService is currently warning on Gita as a Category 3 cyclone. To be honest, I like the look of these forecast maps better than the one from RSMC Nadi.

That's not Cyclone Gita. At the time, it was still Invest 97P which can be seen in this image:
