I'll be 25 by the time that the season swings into full force- I'm a seasonal poster, usually only here for the hurricane season and a few weeks after. I believe this will be my third season on S2K. I dont' post much, but I'm an avid lurker. I'm located in Houston, Tx close to the heart of it all in the Gallaria area.

I'm an amature hurricane watcher- my fascination with hurricanes started a few years ago and has only increased this season with a springtime move from the second floor of an apartment building- to the first floor. Yeiks... flood water!

and even on Galveston, the surface wind reports indicate that Alicia was no stronger than Claudette. The NHC TCR also suggests as such. That may be one of the worst 100KT classifications, ever (80-85KT was likely the true intensity).

What caused the damage was it hitting a heavily populated area and horrific preparation

Hey guys, I'm not the most active poster I usually lay low and read everyone else's post. Anyways, Im 17 and a junior in high school. I live in the Pensacola area, went through Ivan which was my 1st cane. Im now addicted to tropical weather, even though my interest in weather dates back to when I was 4 or 5. I believe after I finish school I may take up chasing as a hobby. I've had the oppuritunity to meet and talk with a few awesome storm chasers who Im sure you all know. Hopefully soon I'll have the chance to go on a chase with them. Until then I'll be here lol. Have a nice day everyone.

I’m a 56 yo third generation Floridian and mother of two who are older than most of you! I currently live in the County of The X, where the paths of Charley, Frances, and Jeanne all crossed.

It just seems like I have always been fascinated with severe weather. My mom said my interest began when I was around 6 months old and went through the Palm Beach hurricane of 1949 – in the prehistoric days before they named hurricanes.

My knowledge of tropical wx and hurricanes is far more experiential than it is scientific… freighters on beaches, waves crashing over seawalls, downed trees, leaking roofs, lack of power, fish in the street, etc. My scientific knowledge may be very limited, but I have totally enjoyed learning more and more from many of you since joining S2K in August of last year!

I am Beverly and am rapidly aproaching 50. I have been interested in hurricanes since Camille when I was a kid. I did live in the New Orleans area but now reside on the MS gulf coast and love it. I do still have my home in the NO area and my son lives there with his new wife. I am a foul weather friend (LOL) since I am usually busy with other things untill there is something to watch. I frequent this board and the chat when things get going cause I love the information available here. Happy chasing this year to all and I hope we all stay safe.
