Yes it is hard to evacuate this area...hopefully a big storm doesn't
come anytime soon.

I have lived here for 10 years. My family moved from Shore Acres,
a low-lying neighborhood due to the surge flooding it got from a
tropical storm in 1996...yes a tropical storm created horrible
surge flooding

So a Cat 1 would be pretty bad here with surge. Cat 2+ with large
radii of hurricane force winds...very bad

The reason for that slight cool down was a strong late season cold front that had moved through. In fact, lows reached as cold as 30-35F in many areas along the northern Gulf during that time. During the next week temps. are expected to be above normal though, so this may lead to a warming trend to resume again. Either way...those temps. are well above normal for this time of year.

Well although I agree, like a former member mentioned it was because a cold front. Things here in Lousiana at least or on the uprise as the temps get high, even possibly above normal in the next week.

So i'd say we're heading back up again.

warm water is like steriods .with steroids you break records by cheating.that exactly what happen with all the hypercanes we had last year.the loop current was the Atlantic basin's steroid and just about every storm that wanted to get jucied crossed over it

The gulf should start warming again in the very near future. It's in the 80's here already with the warming trend to continue.

"bubble bubble bubble" Wait...what's that? Oh, it's only the gulf beginning to boil. :bday:

well loop current temps are coming back. There has been more interest in the loop current this season, after last year, and who knows what this year will bring. Think what could of happened if rita hadnt under gone a ERC while over the eddy vortex? The loop is in the 80s. and again its only the first of April. I was comparing SST charts from past years, and March always seems to be the coldest months for SSTs. So we will see. Darn, as if the people in the gulf need this.

Interesting what happened while watching the loop current. I March the water temps were cooling significantly. Then by April the temps warm up significantly. looks like there is some Canerade in those waters because I think this warming trend will continue.

Yes , and if you remember, last year we had cold spells into April. Thats not going to happen this year, and that will effect SSTs.
