I still don't buy that there is a distinct correlation between a wet June and a snowy December. I tend to avoid analogs because you can't compare past years with upcoming years...our climate has changed, global warming is a big influence and the terraine around our region is alot different. All these factors make it nearly impossible to compare past years with upcoming years.

When using analog years... global warming is definitely a consideration.

Not sure what you mean by terrain. The terrain is the same now as it was 50 years ago.

A very wet June does seem to lead to a cold and snowy winter.

Another dreary day...feels like November.

We've had over a half an inch of rain today...a strong PSCZ has slammed us all day. It's been raining the past six hours nonstop...granted it's alot lighter than this morning.

As for the extended, same story. There's no clear ridge developing to break this weak zonal flow. We are dominated by a weak upper level low in the Gulf of Alaska that is maintaining this flow. Until that breaks down, our pattern won't change. Models go through the end of June and they show the same pattern continuing.

One more thing...

Our high temperature today was 53F...that's bitterly cold for June 11. I know Seattle proper hit 64F, but just goes to show how the PSCZ can create its own weather.

Yep... but statistically is another almost dry and slightly cool day in Seattle.

Places out here on the Eastside routinely get slammed with a PSCZ and colder weather in June. Not today... but it is normal.

There is something very different about the years Snow_Wizzard looked at that had a wet June and the current month. Those were the result of a couple very wet systems with a tropical connection.

This pattern will never get us to a statistically wet June in Seattle.

This is incrediable.... ! Curently at 6:41pm, there`s lots of heavy rain up against the Cascade foot hills. Bet the folks up there are get getting a good does right now. Tim...you must be getting it good! What`s it doing up there?! -- Andy

Should of taken a look at the radar loop first :lol:

. It appeas that THERE is not heavy rain, and that radar right now is having hard time seeing the foot hills.

I have recieved .20" since late last night. And my high today was 54 with a low 49. So definally cooler than yesterday as it was pretty rainy through about noon time. Then it was just some scattered light showers at times later in the day. -- Andy

A HORRIBLE DAY!!!!! :grr:

We had a high of 54 degrees with rain all day! Has never stopped, it would slow to drizzle a few times, but pick right back up again. I don't even remember a day last winter that was this pathetic :grr:

Might as well winterize my jetski and build a fire, auctually I did build a fire today it was so cold in the house :lol:

Currently raining with a temp of 51 degrees

Crappy day up there... but it will keep it green longer into the summer!!

We had numerous sun breaks and it felt pleasant unless we were directly under a dark cloud.

It has FINALLY started to rain here now.

Not even a hint of sun here today. It has been a rather cool day compared to yesterday. Also a rainy one to! Well actually, most our rain fell during the early morning through about early noon time. Then it was showers here/there. And about mid-late this evening...the PSCZ decided to come for a visit. So for last couple hours or so, the rain is falling steadly, but also moderate at times. I recieved .24" from late last night through today. My high today was 54 with a low of 49.

Well guys...there is just too much exciting stuff going on for me to handle this year! It looks like we have a great chance of this being the coldest June since 1981, and it could be the coldest since 1971. The real kicker is that the last time we had a combination of a REALLY warm June in the upper Mid West / Western Great Lakes and REALLY cool June in Seattle was 1971! The numbers I was using were at least 2 degrees below normal for Seattle and at least 2 degrees below normal for Madison Wisconsin. These values are not in the bag yet, but they sure look good right now. For one thing the winter of 1971 - 72 was a really cold and snowy one, for another we are talking about something that has not happened for almost 35 years! The icing on the cake is the fact that very cool June's in Seattle and very warm ones in the mid section were common before 1972 (and most led to cold winters for us). Yet another sign that we have indeed gone through a regime shift this year. The profoundly negative NAO this year is another sign we have gone back to a pre 1975 climate phase.

You are missing the boat on this Anthony. You must realize that we go through warm and cold climate phases...you have only seen the warm one in your lifetime!

By the way...Sea - Tac is finally picking up rain, and that MONSTER...MOTHER OF ALL TROUGHS...that is going to develop next week, could easily put them over normal for the entire month by the end of next week. That is going to depend on how big the steady rain will be from that TOTALLY UNREAL 992mb low that is progged to be off the coast. 992 in June!!!!

How about that high in Everett today...53! That is insane for this time of year!

Sea - Tac is now down to 50, as of 10:30pm. That brings their daily low 3 degrees lower than the morning low. That makes far a decent daily depature from normal of -3. We have got to hope for this one guys. The coldest June in 24 years!

I love this convergence zone! At this time it perfectly fills King County...extending from the north county line to the south county line. If this were winter, there is no doubt we would be talking about snow. 850mb temps of 0C in June would translate to -7 or -8 in the winter, or colder!

Sea - Tac is wracking up the rain now! 0.11" in the last hour (.20 for the evening) and radar is orange there. 2.5" here we come!

Thanks for explaining the C Zone to me a few weeks ago, Snow Wizzard. Now I get it!

And I like it, too. Very cool new weather phenomenon for me!
