March and October to me are the best months in my opinion in Texas in that typically there is something for everyone weather wise.

On one hand you tend to get these cool shots of air throughout both months for those who are looking forward to winter (October coming out of summer) and for the folks who are warmer weather fans you get near 90 on Wednesday and mid 80's the remainder of the week to remind them winter is over and spring/summer is about to dominate (March).

I agree with you on October. March for me though can have the most beautiful, tranquil days with cool air and bright sunshine. Something to be said for April also, similar to March but wetter. May, while stormy and wet, is when I start to dread the upcoming summer hell.
Today though is a gorgeous day with a cool breeze and sun. Perfect.

Felt better to me yesterday lol if the winds would chill out then it would be much more tolerable for me. I live out in the country though on an open prairie, so we always get the worst of the winds. Can’t stand it.

All my winter weather friends in the DC area are totally losing it. NWS is calling for 2-4" with borderline surface temps, while just up the road there are Blizzard Warnings and forecast of 20"+ of snow. I've lived through numerous Nor'easter Blizzards and can confirm there isn't much, if anything, that can compare.

I'm already seeing double digit reports in NJ the peak of the storm has barely started!

This may truly be historic in the Philly Boston corridor

And yeah I just saw two reports from Richmond their little snow melted already because they were too warm. Quite a contrast

I experienced it once. I was laid off like clockwork at Christmas. I just used my sick time which annoyed them to no end. So I had flight benefits and I said to my dad “let’s take the red eye to Boston, eat lunch at Anthony’s Pier 4 (I think the superstorm killed it later). Anywho we land just as a Northeaster was cranking up. Take the subway. It is pouring snow and winds were blowing in from the ocean right in our face. 40 knots. That was the coldest two mile walk ever. We eat. Head back. Everything is grounded but while we were standing there at Logan my dad sprints across the terminal knocking people out of the way, grabs this little girl and uses the Heimlich maneuver. Big old piece of hard candy came out. The parents were so panicked they froze.

Yeah I've been to most of the cities up there from DC to Boston and I just don't think I could ever live up there for a lot of reasons. Heck I went to NYC 5 times in 8 years haha. It actually did snow one time I was there but nothing like this. Seeing reports near 2 feet on Long Island is just wild...

The only thing probably remotely close to this storm was when I went to Kansas City last year or 1993(in March!) in Alabama. Obviously in Alabama it was way more historic and stuff though....like every snow record is from then and it was on March 13th. Crazy stuff

The only thing I really remember being so young was walking to a friends house because they had power. Snow drifts were above my head

I think my snow obsession and the reason I went to Kansas City and Breckenridge last winter was probably born out of that storm

Got a chance to visit Italy for the olympics it was a blast. The Dolomites are a thing of beauty worth the trip if you can visit.

I can see my Feb call went down in flames . Naturally it looks to end up top 5 if not top 3 warmest Febs. Go warm you will win!

As a longtime lurker of this forum and someone that moved to NYC recently. The contrast in winter is quite stark and I was able to thankfully make it back here yesterday before the storm really took off. Around 18 or so inches so far with it still coming down at a solid clip in Manhattan. Coincidentally was in Texas during the sleet storm last month too.

Wow that radar up there is impressive. I do agree visiting is different. I am too midwestern still lol to live up there.

I hope we get one last shot of cold and snow but once it hits March I am ready for storms.

The good news is as we head into March at least the Euro and more importantly its ensemble are signaling a much more active pattern with some airmass clashes potentially setting the stage for some much needed rainfall across a good portion of the state.

Obviously will have to watch trends for severe weather depending on how dynamics play out but at least the signal is there and it's not just the Euro either. GEFS and GEPS look similar as well.

Curious but why would ridging to our east have anything to do with us not getting rain across Texas? If anything that would actually be more favorable potentially with these airmass clashes in between which is what ensembles are hinting at as we move into the 2nd week of March?

Granted still a few weeks out but signals look pretty good to me right now across all the ensembles.

txtwister78 maybe it could be more favorable , but i just dont buy it yet personally , ive seen this in the summer time, models/ ensembles show a wet pattern 10+ days out, and we end up getting burned and replaced by a big old ridge lol, if this active signal on ensembles gets within 7 days, then maybe it will become more believable, i think we will have to wait until april/ may before things truely start to get active
