I think over 6 for Tyler area maybe by a good amount.

Is the area between Dallas and Houston going to start filling in and moving northeast? I'm ready for things to get going in Tyler!

Airlines have started canceling flights at @DFWAirport and @DallasLoveField as extreme winter weather bears down on North Texas.

Models are beautiful around here a few only 3, some 6 and some 9. I think some of the low totals are not accounting for the ratios well as all models give us at least 0.4" QPF and as much as 1" QPF on 12km NAM but it only shows 9" Kuchera. I think we do 12-14:1 and maybe 16:1 at the end near daybreak.

Man, dfw airport is gonna be the big winner at this rate. Out here in Dallas we’ve had occasional moderate snow but it’s mostly been light

That big band is getting ever so close to downtown Fort Worth, if it isn't there already.

We are completely encased in ice in rural western Williamson County. Have been... we've observed some very light snow this afternoon and earlier this morning a light freezing mist. Our roads are not navigable. They are extremely crowned as most small county roads are, and they are covered in ice. Have fat 12" icicles hanging off the house and on various other object on the property. Hubs has been starting up the RV often (Super Class C) that has an 8k generator in it in case of electricity loss. We've lost four oak limbs and one is hanging precariously close to the power line coming in to the house due to ice weight. It is insane! No more ice, please....? We have been feeding the birds loads of high fat seeds and suet as well as keeping "warm-ish" water (i.e. not freezing) in our birdbath hourly. Probably the only water source for them... around the property anyway. Ready for the ice thaw.... :froze: :froze: :froze:

It's been unreal. I was just a little bit to the east closer to I-35 earlier and it's nothing like what it is the closer you get to the Tarrant/Dallas county line. The airport has been the jackpot all morning.

These streamers remind me of the lake effect snow bands.

I had a windy burst of small snow-flurries about an hour ago that lasted a few minutes that lightly coated things and briefly reduced visibility to lots of white in SE Austin.
Now there are very small snow-flurries and the sky is darkening.

After holding steady at 33 all day, I have dropped to 31.6F with light freezing rain. Evaporative cooling did its thing.

Looks to be. It’s moving slower than the NWS predicted which means it’s probably going to stay longer and snow longer. Here’s what it looks like on my RadarScope:
