Made it down to 22 again this morning. I think the forecast was somewhere around 28.

About the same for DFW, roughly 5 degrees lower than forecast. Don't even get me started with the GFS, it had a low of 43 on the 6z even and it was really 33. There is a problem with this model's surface temps. I'm not sure why it hasn't been addressed but I'm not even talking long range...getting pathetic how bad it is even within 24 hours.

Literally any cold blast I can shave off 10-15 degrees on the GFS and be better than it every-time..it's sad.

It really misses the mark with radiational cooling...the algorithm might be over-compensating for the Urban heat island affect. Similar flawed algorithms are being incorporated into long-range climate models as well...Yikes!!

Oh I agree. Give me 105 and low humidity any time during the hot months vs 90 and high humidity. The evenings can be nice during the summer months when it's dry too. In fact it's treat to have the low humidity option down here on the coast. Summers like that usually are drought dominated, but it does well to push tropical activity way away from Texas. After last summer, I will take the dry option so people can continue to rebuild and then absorb the sticker shock from increases to our windstorm and flood insurance renewals.

Back to Winter. Looks like February is going to be fun.

These MJO forecasts continue to get more impressive by the day and will be tough to ignore...given the current forecast, First 7-10 days of Feb look to be more Northern Tier into Eastern US focused - will we get lucky enough to have the trough far enough west to get us in on the action ???

You can have all the summer you want after March 20th! Especially if you can deliver a solid 3" for us Houstonians that really want to see what it looks like for our yards/houses to be completely white. But PLEASE make sure there is enough rain with the heat!

I always have summer - not much to bargain with there. Next winter will be cold due to El Nino, huh? Remember that this winter was supposed to be warm and dry due to La Nina. I stopped that by taking control of the weather across Texas this winter. Do you think El Nino has a chance against me next winter (if I so desire)?

I'm just thankful that this drought is occurring in the Winter and not the Summer, we'd have 3" wide cracks in the yard by now. Hopefully we break out of this sooner than later.

and remember El Nino of winter 2015/2016 was supposed to be wetter/cooler.....and we all know how that worked out, don't we?
