Oh wow, a third hurricane of the year that will also very likely drive up our ACE total by more than 36 once it's all done!

Yeah, get outta here 2013 2.0 comparisons. See you again in 2023. Or maybe never.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Fun fact, this is the first September since 2017 to contain only hurricanes (at least so far). All seasons since then have had Septembers with at least a few tropical storms at this point in the month. But it seems like 2022 is more about quality than quantity. Let's see whether Fiona actually lives up to its MH forecast unlike Earl.

Not to get too off-topic, but considering the ridiculous OHC in the tropics right now (since not a lot of TCs formed there in the last few months) I wouldn't be surprised if we can get some big ones in October similar to 2020. But tbh I also expected August to be quite active and look what happened, so I guess I'll just wait and see.

If current trends continue it could become a Cat 2 when it reaches Josh Morgerman in Punta Cana.

Deep convection popping up around the CoC now. Really looks to be intensifying.

Strongest doppler velocities are now right by the immediate NE eyewall, Fiona is now tightening up some.
