Yeah! Some good news to look forward to. So often the early rainy season brings N or E moving storms - but then there is always a hail chance due to colder temps high up. I believe May into early June is our most active hail time. Its been bone dry for 2 weeks now since the decent rains of the beginning of the month. BUT comfortable! :P

Well, good news or not, nothing but blue skies and seabreezes here for the weekend with all the rains located interior collision areas OR east coast - as usual. Near 90F but the breezes make it feel excellent out. I do hope something comes our way, rainwise, this week with chances getting up there! :P

Hang in there gsytch, gfs is still persistent in west central FL getting into the wet season afternoon thunderstorm activity this week.

I lucked out, I picked up close to 2" of rain yesterday from two different thunderstorms, one around 5 AM and another one in the afternoon, it rain for a good hour as a couple of disturbances moved down south along the eastern coast.

Looking at the atmosphere this morning it is ripened with moisture all the way up to the mid levels which is fairly cold at those levels and even cooling down further during the day makes the right recipe for a few storms later to today to drop hail.

Storms formed on the seabreeze appx 20 mi inland in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus cos...moving SSE away from us. Here - 3pm 89F DP 73F clear as a bell. Once again, May shows the seabreeze pushing any chance inland. I predict later on I will be watering with the hose while thunder roars in the distance, like usual in May! :P

Not a drop here, nary a cloud either yesterday. Just sunny skies, seabreeze and darker inland. Hose was out at 7pm and the landscape needed it, so dry. I can only hope something comes my way today. It has been 17 days since our last decent rain....send it our way!

MJO is still expected to go into phase 8 & 1 over the next couple of weeks which are phases in which rainfall averages are fairly high for FL, nice way to start the wet season.
Could be a record setting month of May for Orlando if we end up the month wet as it is.

I have been receiving rain with the seabreeze fronts each and every day this week, with yesterday receiving an additional 1.25 inches. So far, I have measured for the month to date of just over 13 inches, with much of that falling the first week of this month. It has been a very wet May indeed.

Things really look great for the Memorial Day holiday weekend as amazingly, as we have seen through this spring season, another cool front will come through the Jax area by Saturday. This will bring in a very dry and cooler air mass into the region as lows are forecast to be in the 50s by Sunday morning and highs only near 80 Saturday and Sunday. I can't ask for any better weather in late May that's for sure. Also, this will allow us to dry out for awhile, which we definitely need in these parts. Plus, Mother Nature owes it to us in this area to bring us great holiday weekend weather after she gave us a very big surprise last year this very same weekend, T.S. Beryl.

In the past 19 days I have received .05" of rain. We did get 2 inches the first few days in May but it shut off big time, and the past week has been nothing but blue skies and sunshine...nary a drop except for the 4 minute shower Monday evening. I am going to have to deepwater the palms again, and forget about fertilizing since the moisture is so low. I am concerned that the next week looks so dry and sunny, we may go a month without decent rain. As I said, May means I stay dry and storms stay inland!

Yeah, hard to believe that yet we have another frontal boundary passing through FL this weekend to sweep away the humidity, what a treat for this time of the year.
Gsytch, sorry to hear about you not getting much if any this week. I guess climatology was not on your side as you stated.
Dry weekend and a dry week coming up, but the euro shows a big surge of tropical moisture to come up from the Caribbean for next weekend.

This is a video I took from one of the heavy thunderstorms here in Orlando, this was Monday afternoon.
I have received a whopping 8"+ of rain this month, can't complaint at all, other than having to mow the lawn more often now ;)

It looks like the only place that didn't get any real appreciable rains is the big bend area, but your turn will be coming trust me, might even come next weekend if the models are right
