Why the hell do they have to post pictures of MJ on the stretcher like that? Can't the guy get one moment's peace?

I'm old enough to remember the death of Marilyn Monroe (1962) and only 47 years later, she still can't rest in peace, for all the constant sexual references...

Elvis has been gone for almost 32 years (1977), and even his soul can't get a moments rest, for all the references to his life and death, so don't expect Michael to get any better treatment....

If anything, since the other two were from older generations that are now passing into history, he will probably generate even more comments since his fans are much younger...

Speaking of older generations - recent generations are the only ones that have forgotten it to be wrong to talk badly of the dead (since they are no longer here to defend themselves). I blame most of this on the media and Hollywood, which make millions every year on those who are no longer living, but it's up to parents to teach their children that it is indeed wrong to speak badly of people that have since passed on...

Put it this way - no one here would want a person to speak badly of us, once we're gone...

At the least the public and media should respect the person's passing, if they cannot find anything good to say of them...

You can tell that Joe Jackson is thinking $$$$ where his sister, Janet, is thinking

Joe Jackson is such an a$$. I hope that he will never be able to touch one penny of MJ's estate because I truly believe that he would steal it right from his own grandchildren. :grr:

Michael Jackson said he was abused by his father, Joe Jackson. Some of Michael's siblings are estranged.

Personally speaking, I couldn't care less what people say about me after I'm dead. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even matter to me how my body will be disposed. Heck, put me in a landfill, if you wish. I have always believed that those who are dead are totally unaware of what is happening in this realm. Their bodies are dead and will decay with time whilst their souls are asleep to later rise. IMO, funerals (some with lavishly ornate and no doubt very expensive caskets) are to appease the living relatives, friends and (in Michael's case) millions of adoring fans of the deceased.

However, in deference to those that hold a different view regarding if the dead are conscious on some level, sensitivity to others' feelings dictates that we shouldn't speak ill of the dead.

Tuesday's Michael Jackson memorial was viewed by an average of 30.9 million people in the U.S., according to figures from Nielsen Media Research.

A total of 19 networks carried the proceedings live from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., including the major English- and Spanish-language broadcasters and cable news outlets, as well as MTV, VH1 and others.

While Jackson's celebrity spurred worldwide interest in his death, the ratings for his memorial did not quite match those for the 1997 funeral of Princess Diana, which, despite airing during the early morning hours in the U.S., drew an average of 33.2 million viewers. President Reagan's burial in 2004, which happened during prime-time in much of the country, was watched by 35.1 million.

These Jackson figures, however, do not include viewers who watched live by streaming online, which likely accounted for at least several million more users.

I saw a few of the various clips out there and that one of Paris ripped at my heart. His children are so beautiful! Fortunately, they have a lot of support around them.

Yesterday CNN showed the video of the Pepsi commercial filming incident where Michael's hair caught on fire. I felt so sorry for him. :( In many ways Michael had a difficult life.
Truly, money and fame aren't everything.

Yeah, the picture that was released when that incident happened really didn't capture the true extent of the accident. You could see "a glow" but that video shows the flames, smoke and then, unfortunately, his badly burned scalp.

You have to wonder what would've been if that didn't happen. :(
