All I know is that it will have approx 72 hours over warm water, give or take a few hours, and that's a huge amount of time for major strengthening. Think about how quickly Katrina intensified just a few hours prior to landfall today where conditions were less than ideal. What's it going to do once it gets in the gulf where conditions are much better?

are you sure that Katrina isn't playing tricks on your eyes?
I think what you might be seeing is an ERC?... It looks like an inner eyewall may be forming... I'm just guessing here, though... you can see it a little better here..
