Reporting from Jacksonville, NC...
Ophelia was not as bad as I expected. I am not sure if my area received hurricane force winds. From my estimates, I would say the highest gusts were around 60-70 mph. The power only went on and off once. Right now, it still is gusty, but conditions are improving. No trees have fallen, but there are a lot of branches on the ground.

Here in Manteo we have just had a light sprinkle, enough to make dirt dots on the cars. Winds are fairly light, I'd guess 5 to 8 miles per hour.
I've been surprised all day the weather has not deteriorated as the day goes along.
Looking at the radar, it appears the rain and wind may make it here soon.

Water water everywhere.... but the winds have died down to mostly breezes and some light gusts. We are still getting some rain but nothing like last night and early this morning.
If you look closely in the middle of the picture, you see some cars (thankfully sitting up on a hill) with trees behind them, and behind the tree tops some poles sticking up. Those are the tops of the sailboats on the Neuse River at North West Creek Marina in Fairfield Harbor. All this water is from the river overflowing its banks.

Lost power and Internet connection yesterday morning. As I understand it, the power company purposly disconnected us from the grid as a precaution. But, it seems that it was a good move as when the power came back up, it stayed up.
Of course, Charter was the first to drop out and the last to come back up.
Went out on the beach. Damage looks pretty minimal with some stairs partially washed out. The footer of dune is washed out a bit, but it looks like they held together - at least in my immediate area.
I am currently uploading all weather data that was saved throughout the storm to http://www.topsailweather.com. There are some time periods missing in the data, but I think I still managed to get a lot - especially during the height of the storm.
This thing lasted forever!

Ooops. Forgot to mention......
I added a damage report form to the webiste at http://www.topsailweather.com. Click the link at the top of the Home page. I am paticularly interested in reports from around Surf City, Topsail Beach, N.Topsail Beach, Sneads Ferry, Holly Ridge, Hampstead or other neighboring towns, villages, and neighborhoods. Folks outside the area in neighboring areas are welcome to post a report also.
You can post a description and photo of any damage you sustained during or after Ophelia. I'll publish all reports to the website and pass them along to the NHC and NOAA for assessment.
I do not collect personal information from the forms on this site.
