Ok, whre did all the Lee & Collier county folks go? Normally, when there's a hurricane brewing out there, this thread stays on top...did you all leave? We went and got some ssupplies t the Wally Mart in North Fort Myers, and it wasn't to bad, but starting to empty out. We live in Cape Coral, but knew better than to even try and get anything here...it's always empty first! Now, the gas stations, that's another story they're all packed or empty!

I'm too busy reading the threads and trying to pack up the house in anticipation of leaving. The gas lines in N. Naples have been busy all day but I haven't passed any that are out of gas yet. Haven't been to a grocery store since yesterday. Shelves were still fairly well stocked but I imagine that has changed after everyone woke up to a Cat 5. Friends went to Wally World for water at lunchtime and sad it wasn't busy.

I work in a bank trust department and we are going casual tomorrow and packing up our files and computer equipment. Closed on Friday so everyone can evacuate or prepare their homes.

I'm still here! Just busy all day with errands I needed to do before our possible "excursion" out of here! Also, I was helping my poor cousin who broke her foot last week get what she needs done.

Traffic was heavy everywhere I went which was basically a huge circle from Pine Ridge + Airport to Livingston and Immokkalee where my cousin lives, out to 41 down near the mall, then a Publix run, back to my cousin's house, then back home for me! Whew! I was going nuts not being able to check the board, but felt good I got so much accomplished!

Publix at Pine Ridge and Airport was absolutely mobbed at 5:00. The cashier said there were lots of folks waiting outside at 7 am until they opened. There was no bread and very little decent canned items. The single serve Chef Boyardee stuff was wiped clean! Long check out lines too... Got lots of single serve type foods and snacks for a possible long car trip as well as for when we come home. My dad is a diabetic so I wanted to make sure I had enough appropriate foods for him to cover any blood sugar issues he might have.

Still have to decide about when to put up the plywood. Last year we bought sheets and had them cut and labelled for the windows and sliders. Also has screws installed so the plywood could easily be "slipped in."

Gonna try to get some sleep after the 11:00 update as I barely got 4 hours last night.

Keep this thread going guys....we need each other's support!

with all the models to our South, I would expect the NHC to adjust the track more southerly.

Last night of TWC Jim Cantore said he would be in FT Myers at 4:00pm today. So we know the storm isn't coming here now

Well - we still watch and wait. Sure don't like all these reporters
being around our area though - especially Cantore......

We were out last night (from Daniels to N. Ft. Myers) lines were long
at most gas stations.

Anyone have any updated information this morning ? Do we now
believe the models, and Wilma going further South ?

Another anxious day ahead.

Have any of you seen this site (which is a link from Collier's Emergency Management site...http://collierem.org/)

LOCAL IMPACT ESTIMATE

http://67.8.43.251/cceoc/

This site is incredible. It informs you of critical info such as how close the storm will pass through various locations, time of the storm's arrival and departure, when to expect tropical storm force winds in your general location, what the max and average winds and gusts may be as well as projected rainfall total.

There have been some significant changes since last night. At 11 PM Naples was at winds of 101 mph with gusts of 126 mph. It's also interesting to note that the winds are now projected to be stronger although the distance from Naples to point of impact (CPA) is further. Last night it was 14 miles...this morning it's 18.

Stats as of 5 AM:

Wish I could get the table to post better...go to the site for a clearer understanding.
