Thanks Brent...now I feel better.
Actually, I knew there was a big shocker at the end of tonight, but I have puposely avoided any spoilers. I hate spoilers. You seem to know what happens, but if anyone who doesn't know anything wants to make a guess as to how it ends, go for it. I saw Jack and Karen's expression in the previews for tonight and my guess is the White House is blown up. Just a guess and I'm probably way off because it's not like a shopping mall or a bus and shouldn't be as easy to walk into strapped with bombs, but that's what came to mind first. If I'm right, I sure hope President Palmer lives. I like saying President Palmer...it reminds me of David Palmer, and I still miss him.
For everyone: please don't post spoilers in a post since everyone doesn't like them. And if you post a link that contains them, just warn us, please. Thanks!

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007
A huge audience for the NFL playoffs carried CBS to a ratings win Sunday, while the return of "24" brought its usual solid ratings to FOX.
Fueled by football, CBS averaged a 13.6 rating/20 share for the night (those numbers may change some because of the live broadcast). ABC was second in households at 7.5/11, though FOX, 6.8/10, had just a few more total viewers. NBC drew a 4.9/7, and The CW trailed at 1.6/2.
CBS also led among adults 18-49 with a 7.0 rating. FOX scored a 4.7, edging ABC's 4.5. NBC averaged 2.5 and The CW 1.0.
The Eye's coverage of the AFC playoff game between the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers delivered a huge 20.0/31 at 7 p.m. NBC was a distant second with "Deal or No Deal," 5.6/9. "America's Funniest Home Videos" was third for ABC at 4.6/7. FOX was fourth with two "Simpsons" reruns. An hour of "Reba" averaged 1.9/3 for The CW.
The end of the Patriots-Chargers game and "60 Minutes" kept CBS in the lead at 8 p.m. with a 15.3/22. The season premiere of "24" earned an 8.4/12 in its first hour. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 6.6/10, kept ABC in third, ahead of "Grease: You're the One That I Want," 4.9/7, on NBC. The CW held steady with "7th Heaven."
At 9 p.m., ABC's "Desperate Housewives" won the hour with a 10.6/15 but was down some from its season average. CBS averaged 9.8/14 with "60 Minutes" and "Cold Case," but "24," 9.1/13, had more viewers. "The Apprentice" suffered in the face of heavy competition, scoring a 4.7/7. The CW ended its night with a "Beauty and the Geek" repeat.
CBS regained the lead at 10 p.m. as "Cold Case" and "Without a Trace" averaged 9.2/15. "Brothers & Sisters" posted an 8.2/13 for ABC, and the season premiere of "Crossing Jordan" managed only a 4.4/7 for NBC.
On Saturday, FOX ruled the night with its NFL playoff coverage, averaging 14.3/24. CBS, 5.2/9, was second, followed by ABC, 4.0/7, and NBC, 3.3/5.

I
CAN'T
DO
THIS
ANYMORE.
No, I'm not quoting Jack, either. I've watched all 5 seasons and I've shed a few tears here and there, but I have never bawled my eyes out like I did when Jack shot Curtis. I like Curtis a lot, but it wasn't just that (I was also devastated when Tony, Pres. Palmer, and Michelled died)...it was the fact that Jack had to shoot him and Curtis knew that Jack chose to shoot him to let Assad live. Of course he couldn't let Assad be killed, but he had murdered a lot of Curtis' friends during Desert Storm and beheaded 2 of them right in front of him. I understand how Curtis felt! I'd want to kill him too, and yet....they needed him to live. And that look of disbelief in Curtis' eyes... UGH!!
And the ending....

I just saw 24. I think Graham is involved in the terrorist attack besides the Jihadists. I suspect there is a traitor because the nuclear scientist escaped. I expect Assad to still die because terrorists will see him as a traitor and coward. I can understand why Curtis wanted to kill Assad. Somehow I have a bad feeling that Jack could be killed. Also, there are four nukes out there awaiting to go off. The reason is this phrase, "khamsa ziwar", which means five visitors.

This is 24's highest-rated season so far. Incredible since this is the SIXTH season.
The Golden Globes ceremony kicked off NBC at 8 p.m. with a 12.9/19 for the hour, with FOX's new episode of "24" rating a respectable 8.8/13.
NBC's awards show continued to entertain in the 9 o' clock hour with a 13.4 rating/19 share, while FOX's "24" mantained second place with a 9.5/14.

Kiefer causes Bauer meltdown
By LUCY WATERLOW
January 16, 2007
KIEFER Sutherland destroyed the only prototype for a doll of his 24 character Jack Bauer on a drunken night out.
The action figure will finally hit the shops this summer after a two-year delay because Kiefer set fire to the original.
He said: "They had sent me the doll for my approval.
"We took it out for a night to have some fun. We had some drinks and sat it on the corner of the table.
"We started torturing him around 11 o'clock at night, and, by two o'clock in the morning, we had set him on fire in the parking lot.
The star added: "Then I got a call the next day saying, 'Did you like the doll?' I said, 'Yeah, it was great.'
"And they said, 'Good, you have to send it back to us because that was the prototype, it took that guy a year to make it.'
The new series of 24 starts on Sky One on Sunday with a two-hour explosive opening episode .

I REALLY CRIED when Jack shot Curtis. OMG!!!! You're so right Kelly, this was different because Jack had to shoot Curtis. It wasn't like he was killed by a terrorist or anything. The ending sent a shiver down my spine as well.

bumping up thread for tonight's episode . .
Hint on future episodes:
Emphasis on familial connections. . . for instance, Jack's family. . . The family member, we will see tonight has been on 24 before.

Kiefer Spoofs Jack on the Simpsons
This May, Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer) and Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) will be appearing on the Simpsons spoofing '24'. FOX will be airing two episodes of Simpsons that night and, depending on which airs first, one will have the honor of being the 400th aired episode of the Simpsons. This would be a great time for '24' to make their choice known.
The episode will air May 20th, 2007. In the episode, the familiar '24' locale of CTU now stands for Counter Truancy Unit, an elite group of truant officers led by a Baueresque character. While it isn't confirmed, Kiefer no doubt will be chasing down a school-skipping Bart, 24-style.
