Ok guys, heres my prediction for the weather. We are living in the end-times. The weather will get crazier every month, summer in the winter, winter snow in the summer. Nothing is going to make any sense. Throw all your statistics out the window. Put on your seatbelt and get ready for the ride

Not much activity on this thread today. Today's been a "blah" day...no rain, wind but dark clouds that threaten to rain, but nothing falls. It's 4:30pm and it's almost dark. Really not much to talk about. Pretty boring pattern the next five or so days. This more progressive, zonal pattern is taking alot longer to develop than orginally forecasted. Looks like the weather through Wednesday will be similar to Saturday and Sunday of this weekend. Oh JOY!!! lol. Just checked in with my aunt and they still have windy conditions with brutally cold temperatures...22 inches of snow on the ground. Can you imagine that?! I can't. But, schools are surprisingly OPEN tomorrow...though they have a delay until 10am. If we had 22 inches of snow with my school district, school would be closed for AT LEAST a week...if not more. Just goes to show New York can handle the snow without canceling everything.

Here is my thought on the posts from today.
There is a pretty good chance that the atmosphere is balancing itself right now. Its balancing the amazing pattern of two weeks ago. The PNA was off the chart negative and California had incredible rain and snow totals. There was arctic air close by... but Seattle was just plain unlucky. The pattern was very, very amplified. Now we have the opposite and the cold, stormy weather is on the East Coast after 70 degree readings there two weeks ago.
I think we have balanced out and are now back to even. We do not need to balance the warmth of this week going forward.
Now it will most likely be pretty normal through March... no lowland snow but snow in the moutains.
Also... I was working outside all day and did not think this was such a bad day. There was no rain at all and the temperature was very pleasant. I really do not like cold weather with no snow. In fact... I hate cold weather with no snow. Give me sweatshirt weather any day.

LONDON (AFP) - Human induced global climate change is a weapon of mass destruction at least as dangerous as nuclear, chemical or biological arms, a leading British climate scientist warned.
John Houghton, a former key member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said Monday that the impacts of global warming are such that "I have no hesitation in describing it as a weapon of mass destruction."
He said the United States, in an "epic" abandonment of leadership, was largely responsible for the threat.
"Like terrorism, this weapon knows no boundaries," Houghton said. "It can strike anywhere, in any form -- a heatwave in one place, a drought or a flood or a storm surge in another"
The US mainland was struck by 562 tornados in May, killing 41 people, he said, but the developing world was hit even harder.
For example, pre-monsoon temperatures this year in India reached a blistering 49C (120F), 5C (9F) above normal.
"Once this killer heatwave began to abate, 1,500 people lay dead -- half the number killed outright in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre," Houghton said.
He said British Prime Minister Tony Blair begun to face up to this, rhetorically at least, but "nowadays everyone knows that the US is the world's biggest polluter, and that with only one 20th of the world's population it produces a quarter of its greenhouse gas emissions."
"But the US government, in an abdication of leadership of epic proportions, is refusing to take the problem seriously -- and Britain, presumably because Blair wishes not to offend George Bush -- is beginning to fall behind too," Houghton said.
Apart from being co-chairman of the scientific assessment group of the climate change panel, Houghton is also the former chief executive of the British Meteorological Office.

And then my wife just back from a walk... and without any word from me started saying what beautiful day it is out there. So "refreshing" she said... not cold and not warm but just perfect.
We have had no rain and no fog today... even had a little filtered sunshine earlier. Temperature reached a high of 60.2 degrees.
How can we complain about 60 degrees in January??!!

There are so many articles out there dealing with Global Warming and so many accusations, but a lot of it is just politics. Globalwarming.org has a pretty non-bias approach to this issue and posts articles from both sides. Try reading there instead of conspiracy sites, although it may not be as interesting.

On the contrary, I hate these kind of days...it's mild, yet there's no sun. It's cloudy, yet there's no rain. I would much rather have 30 F with bright, clear skies than 60 F with cloudy conditions. Days like today make you feel like "blah"...at least that's my opinion. An insignificant weather pattern is evolving the next four, five days. Not much to say...more of today. lol.

The 18z is certainly a bit on the shocking side after all of the miserable model runs. I do not necessarily buy it, but it goes to show the GFS has not figured out where to go from here. It does show some nice hope for snow in the mountains later this week, as the flow goes to WNW. I would consider that a realistic possibility.
The pattern we are in is sickening in my opinion. I LOVE cold in any way shape or form, I don't care if it's a cold foggy inversion, cold and clear, cold and cloudy, or cold and snowy. I absloutely love cold and windy...where the cold makes you gasp when you walk outside...that is winter! I am anxious to see monthly averages below 40 again! The winters lately have been nothing short of embarrassing, for our area.

I don't care much for these types of days in the winter either. We get enough dull weather like this in Late spring, early fall. I do work outside though, and this weather is good for that, but if we had arctic air again, I get another vacation so I wouldn't have to worry about it
