Serious Hurricane

#8162 Postby Cyclenall » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:19 am

I just got on, some interesting developments unfolding. CNN contacts all confirm this is the worst since Katrina for the city of New Orleans. This will be bigger than Hurricane Gustav if true which was one category higher I believe. That westwards movement in the short term doesn't surprise me at all.

Yeah, that would be quite something if his eye starts to ramp up quick just offshore.

I guess I have to go to bed, I hope that everyone stays safe in my hometown. New Orleans Lakefront airport getting 58 mph sustained 76 gusts as I leave, probably the worst conditions ahead for New Orleans proper.

@twc_hurricane

First official hurricane-force gust in New Orleans - Lakefront Airport gusted 76 mph at 12:07am CDT. #Isaac

from my untrained eye, looks like the storm has been wobbling east the past half hour...

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

If Isaac makes a loop and then heads north on the east side of New Orleans which appears to me to be as likely as any other scenario this may be a real test for the levees no?

Did you also know it was going to get to the coast and basically stop for six hours? Obviously it's not forecast to but in weak currents like this I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility.

Not really, several models were calling for this...Yesterday (Tuesday), models (and NHC) had Isaac finally on shore as late as 11am on Wed morning.

Why are there random new threads being created for this same topic? There's already two now and I saw this for another TC not long ago. Is this a board glitch?
