Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Fay in Florida Straits
Thanks Tolakram. It's nice to know someone knows how to read the visible satellite.
Shade air temperature Sanibel 83*. Agitated breezes from SE. Hazy sun but overcast now. Obvious weather to SE.

Took some boxes of stuff up from garage floor (surge level). Still have 15 minutes of potted plants and furniture from front porch. Mostly done now except for evacuation stuff in car. No formal notice from town yet.

That's quite possible. I stared at that loop far too long. In motion you can see the convection spiraling off NE of the center. The rapid image frequency really brings this storm alive visually.

Catching up to the winds which I think are 55 kt. It might be a bit lower on the next pass.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that's how it works...
Winds catch up to pressure falls... but not the other way around....

Key West winds shifting again. Goodness. Faulty readings or polluted by a current storm moving through?

I'm old-fashioned and used to use a worn atlas, but now use either google maps or my hurricane software suite, which has street-detail maps.

That is usually correct, but the previous estimates had 1002-1003mb with FL winds of 62 kt and SFMR of 59 kt, which are high for the intensity (typically a 55 kt storm has a pressure around 992-995).
