Re: ATL: ISAAC - Tropical Storm - Discussion
I feel for all of you E of TX this evening. What a very long overnight and day this has been. Still a chance we may get a few showers and some gusts of wind overnight and tomorrow in SE TX however its time to switch off hurricane mode, get rest, and back to a normal routine. The last several days have been exhausting watching continuos mode runs, satellite images, analyzing AFDs, NHC forecasts/discussions, recon data, reading and studying numerous posts on S2K and CH11 forums.

Ditto that. I can't even imagine what all of you are going through. We had a close call with Irene last year, but you deal with this almost every season and possibly multiple times. Stay safe everyone!

Is there a "like" button somewhere on this board?
That would be pretty handy right now, wouldn't it?

For what it's worth, I live just inside the Texas border (Orange) and we're finally getting an outer band of rain after a very nice but windy day.

Good information to know so we all know what Isaac is doing to areas outside of New Orleans.

Not a drop at my house in Orange. Just a breeze.

I live just North of I-10 so I'll get it first if you live further south.

Very light sprinkles here between Beaumont and Port Arthur with a nice N wind that I would put at about 20 mph with stronger gusts. Glad we dodged a bullet (especially places like bridge city and orange that have no levees), but my thoughts are definitely with our neighbors next door, especially in places like Plaquemines Parish. I know first hand what you are going through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Any idea what sort of conditions to expect in Alexandria? How close and what side will the center be? I sure hope it scoots on past rather than the slow crawl we've been seeing.

It could be just my over active imagination but I was looking at radar on weatherbug and weather spark and it appears that the northern area of the storm is hitting against something...it looks like it is flattening out...that may not be the correct terminology but thats the best I can do. It is more pronounced on weatherbug.

Heavy squall coming thru Pearl River now, mostly heavy rain. Brother-in-law works for local law enforcement agency, is in Slidell and says they are getting hammered, several areas flooding there.

Less than a mile north of interstate 10 here. Oak Creek village.

Weird. There's a lot less rain now than this afternoon, when we had a feeder band set up shop right above us, but now seeing the occasional flash of lightening and the slow rumble of thunder from a distance. I hardly ever see that, personally speaking, in a tropical system. Or maybe I just don't pay enough attention.

Re: ATL: ISAAC - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Peak gust of 52 mph here officially and a little over an inch of rain at home and yet I'm so tired of the wind and rain after today and I didn't get squat compared to even what Baton Rouge had! The rainfall forecast definitely busted (6"-12") but we've had such a wet summer no complaints around here. We were most certainly spared compared to what happened East of here but Isaac goes to show that every hurricane is to be taken seriously. What a perplexing, confusing and exhausting storm to follow with all the disorganization and model shifts.
Side note: Haven't seen this much mist since TS Lee last year and that makes me wonder. Why do tropical systems often contain very heavy mist on their back sides? Seems like we never see precipitation like this outside of the winter months.

We were at Delta Downs and we could see a rain shower North of Orange but when we got home not a drop at our house. We were driving right toward it and it was like it vanished.
