NHC's track now is precisely on top of ours from yesterday. Barry has a better chance of moving ashore farther east than farther west Very poorly-organized. I'm not sure it'll make hurricane strength. Can't rule it out, though.

Yes, it is digging quite a bit on that loop.

Last 2 frames show it sliding past our systems. Ridging is coming right behind it

I love (sarcastically) that these damn things come down to the timing of a trough or something similar picking it up.

Yep something I pointed out last night that people seemed to be ignoring when calling for RI possibilities. Last night the system was wrapped in a nice envelope of high humidity to work with, establish an inner core and try to ramp up. It was unable to do so due to the shear and structural issues and now today it's fighting shear, proximity to land and significant dry air. Flooding is going to be the main threat with this one, I don't think it makes it to hurricane status. Recon is finding pressures in the 1006-1007 range and convection is still displaced well to the south. As it turns NW to N I expect the convection to the south to shift more to the east as modeled and whoever gets stuck under those heavy bands will have major flooding issues to deal with. Hopefully New Orleans will be spared.

I need to take a break from watching models and go pick up items in my yard and patio. I’m just going to say this. I had a hunch from day one of watching now Barry that it was going to be another Issac. If the GFS verifies, my hunch will be right.

The Corp of Engineers need to open more flood gates of the Bonnet Carre Spillway and also the Morganza Spillway to help relieve some of the potential rising of the Mississippi River and all the flooding rain.

Is it not possible for the circulation to be pulled under that massive flare up south of Lake Charles?
