most of the twc people are not mets. the wv only for the most part shows upper level dry air. the mid level and surface are quite moist. the reason for the sudden drop in convection is due to shear not so much dry air nice envelope of moisture actually. take a look at the tpw nearly the entire gulf covered in plenty of low to mid level moisture.

So I handed off my NOAA weather radio tuned into my area-Texas-to my daughter who is in Virginia (Navy wife)last week when she visited.....how does she re-tune it to her area-near Virginia Beach? Does she need to do that or does it automatically change? Sorry for near-off-topic-trying to help her prepare for Andrea.

Thanks in advance

:uarrow: Aric has said it quite well. Be very careful about what the weather channel says unless it's their hurricane specialist.

What are the forecasts right now about the rainfall? Will it be as rainy as Debby last year?

No problem. :) Andrea shouldn't be too bad there with wind at all. Could be some flooding so she should just make sure she has done her shopping by tomorrow night. Also, tell her if the signal from the radio is a little weak or fuzzy to look underneath or on the back - there's usually a small dial to tune it in better. Good luck.

Does it input FIPS codes? If it has SAME then she can look up the FIPS code (google it) and input the one for her current county. As for weather radio she just has to find the channel with the strongest strength.

Looks like convection is bursting pretty much right over the center at the moment.

The atmosphere is becoming more unstable here in South Florida, thunderstorms are developing in Broward and Palm Beach county and some are starting to rotate. There is a cell in Collier county that looks to be developing a hook-

:uarrow: I think what we are seeing right now are the centers trying to stack, and the system get a small ball of convection going over it. If this is the case, and a single center has taken over, what kind of strengthening could we see? Obviously there is some shear in the area...but with warm water temps, moist air, a mostly stacked system, and a small core of winds and storms? And DMAX is approaching. Could be an interesting recon mission later tonight.

Is 50 or 55 knots out of the question?

Local meteorologist at a news station here in Palm Beach County says there could be a Tornado Watch issued tomorrow. He also said there is the risk of some severe weather here.

The SPC put out a Mesoscale Discussion, not expecting a watch now but isolated tornadoes tonight. Tomorrow though a watch is possible with greater instability.

I think the Key West NWS Office just said: "the heck with this, way too many individual rotating cells, lets just put that whole area under a marine warning", lol

In my forecast I few pages back, I mentioned the possibility. 60mph, although not likely, is possible.

What thread should severe/tornado forecasts and warnings go into? Here, the observations or the advisories, or a new forum?

I do have the advisory thread labeled as watches/warnings, as well as advisories. Whichever y'all think will help best, though!
