Thanks Cyloneeye. I am hearing that Belize Met Service will probably call for a Tropical Storm watch sometime today, and are projecting a Hurricane Watch by tomorrow morning, if the track continues. I will keep updating.

My prayers to everyone in Jamaica that tonight will pass with minimal loss of life and property.

NCSUwpack

I know what you are going through. When Luis hit our island I was in the States. MY husband and 91 year old father were on St. maarten. All I heard was the weather channel saying over and over again.. the eye wall is continuing to slam Anguilla and st. maarten. ..I was so scared......
Luis caused tremendous damage and it didn't move away for over 24 hours.
I was going nuts not being able to get in touch with my family.
I remember that like it was yesterday.
I know you won't feel good until you can talk to your sister again.
but most likely all communication will be down for a good while. This is normal and should not worry you.
The radio station I am listening to says many areas in Kingston are losing power now.
I think the worst of the storm is approaching.
so this is the hardest time. but they will be OK if they prepared and have a safe place to be.
Hang in there and know that we are all there with you.

CAPA,the water company in Cozumel says that the water plants are ready to operate with electric plants so Cozumel can have water while Dean moved thru.

CAPA dice que todas las plantas de aqua estan listas para seguir operando ya que estaran con plantas electricas.

"The core" is the significant winds I plotted above - headed straight for the bay S of Kingston and Spanish Town.

Yah, NCSU. MsBee is right. It seems the worst part of hurricanes is the uncertainty, the worry about one's friends and loved ones. For me, the worst part of Katrina (aside from the damage, oh geeeez) was the unknown...I didn't know about my friends and family for days after the storm. So, plenty of folks here have been through these events.

Usually it's easy to be dismissive of jogs/wobbles, but in this case they are about as significant as one could imagine. Not sure if Jamaica is going to escape as it did with Ivan.

My opinion not endorsed by Storm2k:

From latest IR loop Dean has pulled his hurricane core into a perfect circle with somewhat sharper eye. No doubt a strengthening contraction upon approach. An inner-core red ir band just passed over Kingston. Hard winds there now no doubt.

Eye still sparing island offshore to the south.

NW wobble...perhaps a jog. Has Jamaica used all 9 lives? I think so and extreme-catastrophic damage is expected on the souther half of the island.

A landfall on Jamaica is going to be a very close thing. If those fishermen don't get into that building...

:uarrow: Disagree. Storm still on steady track south of island 20 miles or more.

That's a buzzsaw core. You'll see massive damage reports tomorrow. Still much less than if that eye hit Kingston.

While I agree with the tracking of Dean, any "wobbles" are going to make major differences for parts of Jamaica concerning the severity of the event. I hope the eyewall remains well south of the island.
