Well, have you ever seen the news networks or emergency management defer to a FA press conferece during a hurricane? tornado outbreak?
The FA is very fun to read...and is rich in folklore and tradition...a true piece of americana. But the folks there do not have any 'super secret' forecast models that the national weather service does not. The forecasts break the nation into a handful of zones....imagine if local weather bureaus put out forecasts like this:
January 1-6.....cold in northern parts in the south, rain may threaten. warmer at end.

But seriously, I don't take the FA seriously either. I have a few relatives who do and plan summer outdoor events around the specific FA's daily forecast. LOL! Each time they do this (outdoor weddings in fact!), I just cringe.
But oh if they are correct, horray!
I work for a school district and the word in this area is most communities cannot afford to purchase as much road salt as they have in past winters. The price of salt has skyrocketed. At first you think - that's great, more snowdays. Then you realize how warm and mild winters have been in this and many areas of the US. But if we were to have a snowy winter and salt supplies were low, the two combined would be something to see happen! Not that I want car accidents to occur. I just would love a few days at home with no where to go to accomplish projects long put off....
But I digress, does anyone put stock in FA's forecasts? Just wondering.....
