Seems to be a big flare up today in the Bay of Compeche along the tail end of a front. Any thoughts?

Well, the Canadian seems to have a tropical storm planned for Brownsville, but, well, it is the Canadian...

Even if something did form, I doubt it would have time to become a purely tropical system, since a pretty stout front is in the Gulf.

Temps still in 70sF with dewpoints near 60ºF in Houston area.

No, thanks - I'm more of a volleyball player, myself...

P.S. Just appears to be a wave more than anything...

Hmm, the NWS out of Mobile stated in their discussion today that cyclogenesis is expected to form along the inverted trough in the western Gulf and move eastward along the upper Gulf Coast, no mention of anything tropical but something to keep an eye on while it is so slow.

"MOIST AIR IN LOW LEVELS WILL
LIFT AS CYCLOGENESIS STARTS IN AN INVERTED TROUGH OVER THE SOUTHWEST
GULF. EAST WINDS ALONG THE NORTHERN GULF COAST BY FRIDAY NIGHT DUE
TO THE AFOREMENTIONED SURFACE LOW MOVING NORTHEAST OVER THE WESTERN
GULF FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND."
