Meteor likely impacted Earth earlier today

#1 Postby Cyclone1 » Sat Nov 22, 2008 9:19 pm

I saw it. Hundreds of Reports claim seeing in over Canada, but I saw a huge, flaming Meteor today at around 6 in Central Florida. It was crazy... Did you guys see it?

A meteor probably hit the earth this minute...and last minute...and two minutes ago.

Sounds like the one you saw is a once per week or two meteor.

Maybe it was a Leonid?

No, it was huge. There's video of it. The glow visible was about 2/3 the size of the moon when I saw it, and keep in mind it was reported to have hit Earth in Canada.

"(Nov. 22) - Canadians and scientists are buzzing about a spectacular fireball that streaked across the western skies, an event that was captured on video.
Most believe Thursday's stunning show was caused by a meteor. "An event of this size, this brightness ... this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime type of event, maybe twice," sad Christopher Herd, a science professor at the University of Alberta."

I saw a large meteor. The chances of there having been 2 large meteors, one over Florida and one over Canada at the same time on the same night with eyewitnesses besides myself to the Canadian meteor only are pretty low, so it had to be the same one.

I saw the video on Yahoo earlier. Simply amazing. I wish I had seen it in person.

Yeah, I wished I could have seen that too, looked crazy on video! The meteor that hit Canada was on Thursday not today so it would not be the same one.

the canadian Meteor was widely reported on the night it happened, even made news on the "Coast to Coast" Program on the radio where they frequently discuss space events etc.
But sadly, it was not visible here in eastern canada.
