Found this in a Bolivar Beach group, author unknown.
(I found this on a local forum.)
'Twas the night before Christmas & all through the towns,
There was little good cheer and so many frowns.
No stockings were hung by the chimneys this year,
Since chimneys in trailers are extremely rare.
Mom was distraught and Daddy pooped out;
The fate of the towns was even in doubt.
Bridge City , Winnie, Sabine Pass and Gilchrist
Historic old Galveston and all of the rest
Had been visited by Ike, a most unwelcome guest
Who brought so much misery in his deadly quest.
But wait, was that prancing and pawing of hoofs?
Atop the bare houses with blue on their roofs?
Oh no, it was hammers making that noise.
Building back homes for the girls and the boys.
It was church groups and folks who drove up in cars;
Kind women and men from near and from far.
Ripping out sheet rock and carpet with care
Serving good meals along with a prayer.
Returning again and again to help out
Doing God's work, without ever a doubt
Young folks and old folks and middle ones too
Working together all the days through.
And though it looks endless and the future's unclear,
There still will be Christmas & there still will be cheer.
For though it may seem like the end of their rope,
Christmas is rebirth and Christmas is hope.
For God's in His heaven and His angels are here
In the form of those helpers who may shed a tear.
But know in their hearts it will all be OK
For soon will be Christmas, our Savior's birthday.
