Family MIA in Saint Lucia. Any Contacts?

#1 Postby NateFLA » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:29 pm

Hey S2kers.

I lurk around here pretty often but seldom post. My brother and his wife are in Saint Lucia at the moment. They've been there since Oct 24th but tried to get out when it was apparent hurricane Tomas was coming. They were apparently unable to do so.

Airlines do not have any record of them securing a flight out, and we've been unsuccessful getting in contact with folks at their last known location (@ Anse Chastanet in Soufriere)... so we're not really sure where they rode out the hurricane and where they are now. They both have phones with them and should definitely have made contact by now because they're both tech savvy and know better than to go this long w/o a text, tweet, email, voicemail, etc. Last we got was a tweet from my brother via his iPad saying the storm was making landfall.

I know Soufriere is cut off but if anyone knows anything about that resort or can give me any info on Soufriere I'd appreciate it. I know there have been no reports of injury so it's likely they are just sticking in somewhere and cleaning up, but I'd be grateful for any help or info anyone can provide.

Have you tried to network through any of the St. Lucia spotters on stormcarib.com?

Hi, hope you've heard from your family. St Lucia is in a mess so this is the first time since saturday i've had internet. Soufriere is cut off by road and only reachable from the north by boat .Hewanorra airport has been closed since saturday afternoon as it flooded, so no international flights for anyone right now. Phones seem to be back up in most places so suggest you keep trying to get through but Soufriere is one of the most isolated paces in the country right now. It is almost impossible to get to the south via main roads as both east and west highways are closed.

Can understand how concerned you may feel but the hotel itself i am sure is fine and your family safe - hope you make contact soon.
