Widespread Damage From Severe Storms In My Area!

#1 Postby Guest » Tue Aug 26, 2003 9:02 pm

All i can say right now is WOW!!!!!!!!!!............Last time i seen winds like i just had earlier was in Hurricane Gloria back in 85!!!!!!!!! Damage is everywhere especially on the westside of my town where there is countless Trees, Power Lines and Stop Lights down everywhere......................My side had winds so strong evidently that gravel went flying about and through some peoples windows!!!!! The reports are still comming in btw................The trees in my back yard were like bent half over during the peak winds and they are kinda old and tall trees and Thankfully for me they are very strong!!!!!!!!!!!.......The rains were no joke either they gave new meaning to the term Blinding Rains!!!!!!!!! Of course lot and lots of lightning and even some small hail but the big news as already said was the winds..................Wouldnt suprise me if there was a tornado touchdown but wont know that untill the nws investigates of course......................My father inlaw was caught out in this and he said trees were down everywhere comming back home from where he was which is to the east of here...............One guy was evidently lucky because a tree fell out in front of him while he was driving going through his windshield but thankfully he wasnt hurt......................Either way like i said this was one of the most intense T-Storms i have ever seen with the exception of a Tornado.............................I will add to this as new info comes in.....................Adding to this.....LOL...........It seems the town is needing help and getting it from as far away as Columbus, OH which is about 48 miles from here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my! You were hit hard! Glad to hear you are okay after all that!

We have a chance for developing storms tonight, but all of that seems to be happening to the south for the time being. We surely could use some rain around here though! Keep us posted!

Pounded and spanked come to mind!!! Are you sure you haven't been doing things you shouldn't?   At a minimum it sounds like you had some strong microbursts. How much cleanup do you have to do?

As far as i can tell VB beeing night i dont see much yet in the front yard anyways............Havent seen the back yet but shouldnt be much if there is because of where the trees are and the way the wind blew...........................As for the rest of the town it sounds like they will be cleaning up for awhile..........................Hopefully i can get some pics on here tomorrow..........................btw thanks Jackie and colin for the concern:)................
