Those of us in the Northern Caribbean islands are breathing a cautious sigh of relief this morning :)

I'll feel better when this monster actually makes the predicted turn to the north. Until then, an East Coast landfall remains a possibility. Soil saturation from rainfall this summer remains high, so a Floyd or Fran type 'cane hitting South or North Carolina is going to produce a lot of flooding and downed trees. Add to this scenario the fact that neither state government has the revenues set aside to handle a major catastrophic event and you have a potentially nasty situation

This isnt indicating an EC miss, just a SE miss. This may have Canada or SNE written all over it as the trough quite possibly will end up missing the hurricane, leaving a ridge in its wake
