Deep South Springwx Discussion

I don't believe there is a spring thread for this area so I'm making one. (Someone correct me if i'm wrong and I will take it down.) This thread will cover all areas that were in the winter thread... which I believe is from Louisiana eastward into the Carolinas and also Florida.

Noaa released their spring outlook for the nation including the Deep South today...

Looks like we will have one last pretty good shot of cold air to funnel into the Deep South going into the end of this month. CPC forecasting below normal temps across most of the Eastern 2/3 of the CONUS.

I will hold off on planting the tomatoes for right now as I believe the threat for frost and possibly freezing temps will be possible in areas in the Deep South before we close out March.



Also, the wet pattern continues across most of the Florida peninsula with above average rainfall continuing through the end of the month.

Well after a winter time low of 24 at the airport, 26 at my house, it looks like winter will be taken a 2 day break with highs in the 70's Friday and Saturday with severe thunderstorms possible Saturday. Sunday and Monday will be cool the back up into the 70's for the rest of the week. I do believe that more cold weather will come in April but winter weather is probably gone till next winter.

Been raining cats and dogs and frogs this morning. Rain gauge overflowed at 5+ inches and its still rain and thunder. Expect more tonight and Saturday morning. Wish we could ship some of this rain out west.....MGC

Got around 3/4 of an inch of rain during the overnight into early this afternoon... not really worth missing the eclipse over though. Now it's cloudy and 74 degrees. It is supposed to get down to 40 tonight though.

It bottomed out at a chilly 44.2 degrees at my locale earlier this morning. I have to admit I am getting some enjoyment with this last decent cool spell we will likely see before the summer heat and humidity kicks in May.

Many areas across the Deep South are in the 30s and 40s this morning, with some locales at or approaching the freeze mark across portions of North and Central Georgia and across areas of the Carolinas. This is courtesy of a rather unseasonably large, cold dome of High Pressure which as come down into the Eastern U.S.
